Today, my dad promised to take me somewhere that he never likes taking me. I was really excited but when we left home I found out he was only going because there was a gas station he wanted to look at near by. MLIP

don't care if it's a stupid question but do any of you actually hear of these incidents in recent days from families or is this stuff long done with?

Punjab still has one of the worst if not the worse female to male ratio in India. It still happens on a wide scale in rural parts of Punjab. People consider daughters a liability and feel they wont be able to survive or it could be more egotistical like not wanting to have daughters. I think it is mostly economic though, the Green Revolution is over and farmers are having tough times paying back banks and other random things and having to pay dowry and arranging weddings for a girl is not gonna help :(

http://www.ideajournal.com/articles.php?id=37 this article is a good read, depressing but it is the truth I guess.
