Man great topic. I would have to agree as of RIGHT NOW UK def got the upper hand no doubt. It's a lot to do with that majority of the good NA teams are either retired, done, or taking a break. Most of you guys/gals said that too and I also agree with Cherag that as terms of dancing and grace NA still got that on lock. With that said if you take the top 3 teams from Canada, USA, and the UK that competed in the last year actively, canada still got it.

1. Canada -Nj, SGPD, Shan E
2. UK- JVD, ankilhe coed, GCC
3. USA- First Class, JJ, SMD

Side note. Elite 8, wbbc, or whoever should honestly do a comp where they take the top 2-3 teams from Canada. America, UK, and Australia. Have qualified judges (not current dancers) and see where everyone stands! That be DOPE!

This is was the idea behind those competitions. But logistics and funding are the biggest factor that make it hard for it actually happen.
International teams would need about a year in advance notice to book flights at a reasonable cost.
Teams would need extra funding for hotels and such.

Have to put FAUJ in there for USA.

Nachda Sansaar is too nasty...they could beat any team in the world

This is arguably the best set of the season in my opinion...

I think Elite 8 should invite Nachda Sansaar next year! They are the only top UK team not have come to NA for a comp lol. Pretty good chance they will place at TBC this year again

I don’t think I agree with Jusi.Sahota’s post about NA doing contemporary – your scene over there really is quite diverse and you do have a wide range of team/styles but I think the point he meant to make was that these gimmicky teams had been winning big competitions like WBBC in the recent past. For me NJW was the only NA set in the last few years that had minimal gimmicks but remained extremely entertaining throughout.
Yeah that's what I was trying to say, guess I just worded it wrong lol. Fully agree with you on that point, NJW's performance was outstanding.

Whilst we're talking about UK teams competing in US, would love to see Nachda Sansaar perform over there with the very best. By far one of the most outstanding teams from UK with a whole roster of talented dancers. WBBC 2016 committee should really consider them.

NJW is still the best team in the world. No UK team is better than them.

RUMAALS ARE BACK? Didn't realize it was 2002. :D Kidding, I've spied a few teams using them again. I've watched half the performance, gotta run-- agreed I liked it so far. Looks like the talent bar has continued to rise in the UK over the past few years.

A few nits about how the formation impact should match the music better (e.g. no impact when chorus hits at 1:31; not really matching the rollout of music at 1:50, etc)-- things that I think AEG, FAUJ, and other NA teams do better, but that's just me talking. I haven't watched enough performances lately to be sure.

Honestly love this concept ! Although to really know which region is better, wouldn't you need the best dancers from each?

I know mastery of the dance isn't the only thing elite teams have but it is a huge part of it.

I gotta disagree with you bro. You comparing these all guys with teams of yesteryear over here. Right now, its competitive and no one beats anyone completely outright, all guys or coed

Saleem watch these guys and JVD bro. These guys placed 1st over there:

Brilliant topic, interesting read!

Its finally great to see that UK teams are getting the appreciation they deserve. Teams here have come a long way in a very short time with sheer determination and passion and its great to see their hard work paying off.

I think that dancers/captains that have been around for quite some time in the UK will have at some point been influenced by the NA scene! If they say they haven't then they're chatting crap.

Saying that I can assure you that no team in the UK is trying to be like TeamX from US or Canada.! Lets get that right! Teams in the UK are trying to establish their own identities and a select few have kind of made a step in the right direction.
Its great to see our teams being compared with teams we have watched for many years, but I don't think that really shows the appreciation that certain teams deserve.

TBC 2014 showcased the best talent the UK has ever seen on one competitive stage and if that continuess in our competitions to come then I am sure those of you who are not really fans of our bhangra yet will hopefully turn yours heads towards us.

I know a lot of the talk has been around Music set teams but we have a lot of talent in Live too, Vasda Punjab are hands down the BEST LIVE BHANGRA TEAM IN THE UK! Having some ex dancers from DAV & Khalsa College might be an advantage but I believe this is one UK team that would no doubt easily match up with your best live teams and dare I say it, blow them out the water.

Moving on personally I think the NA scene has become accustomed to the whole gimmicks vibe, whereas in the UK we ain't about that. Each to their own, if it works for you then why not!

I've seen a few people from NA have expressed interest in BW and other competitions. It would be great to see you guys come over and compete here and not just expect teams to travel over from the UK to show what they're made of.

Anyway I hope to see some of you guys on a competitive stage here, as Hash said, hopefully we'll be influencing your scene soon as you once did ours!

After reading your post, I was actually pretty excited to see this talent you were describing on the live side of this discussion, coming out of UK. Unfortunately, I must say I was actually disappointed after looking into a few performances, for example TCB 2014. I am not trying to attack the live vasda punjab team but if you say that they are the best coming out of UK, they are still much behind the NA teams in the live aspect. Let alone blow them out of the water, I dont think they even come close to matching up with any of the top tier teams. We are talking about teams like:
NJ, Kohinoor, SIAC, PCBCA, Rooh Punjab Di etc. Any of their recent or old performances will blow your mind. You may even throw the NJ Waris in this list with their performance at tdot... being as young as they are.

A lot of NA teams also have had various influences and help of India dancers and ustaads. This is not something new to NA. Some of these teams have been dancing for years now and their experience really shows. The UK can definitely get at that level in the coming years, but from what you say is the best team in the UK, I still see a lot of room for improvement

Have the upmost respect for the teams you mentioned above especially NJ and SIAC who are two of my favourites when it comes to Live.
Just expressing my own personal opinion having collaborated with Vasda recently and seeing first hand the amount of knowledge and talent in their camp, they're never ones to shy away from sharing that knowledge and teaching others so I personally would like to give them the credit I think they deserve being so under rated.
