NBA Finals Heat vs Thunder with Miami taking it in seven, NY should be a top contender with Chandler/Melo/Amare, Clippers should improve with the addition of CP3 and Billups

In 2009-2010, Baron was 1 of just 6 NBA players to average 15+ points & 8 assists. (Other 5 were LeBron, Nash, CP3, D-Will, & R Westbrook). Baron’s Per-36 minute averages over his final 15 games w/ the Cavs last season: 19.7 ppg, 8.7 apg, 3.4 3PT’s per game. That said, Knicks signed a guy who posted a 17 PER last season for the league minimum. Back issues aside, great bargain.

NYK 2011-12. :)

Some other notable PER
Rajon Rondo 17.11
Baron Davis 17.05 8)
Ramond Felton 16.68
Jose Calderon 16.38
Jason Terry 15.93
John Wall 15.85
Darren Collison 15.67
Brandon Jennings 15.66
Jameer Nelson 15.47
Luke Ridnour 15.08
JJ Barea 14.82
Jason Kidd 14.46
Jamal Crawford 14.29
Mo Williams 13.93

I know he is not performing like a Nash, Westbrook, Rose, D-Will, Paul... but for the veteran's minimum.. STEAL!

The reason I say Baron is garbage is because he played for the Cavs. The numbers he put up were inflated thus he had a very high PER. Also he has tendency to become disinterested and he is very lazy. I may have sounded a little harsh by saying he sucks because he is not a bad point guard. My point was just that statitstics can be very misleading. However maybe he returns to his all-star form in NYK, all he has to do is feed the ball to melo, stat nd throw some lobs to Chandler.

He played for the CAVS and had to do everything to make them win. He himself said that he knows that many people do not consider him a good point guard because of the amount of scoring he does... but you have to remember he was the only guy who was capable of doing anything on just about any team he has ever played for (clippers being the exception)

With the clippers he was averaging just about 15 ppg and 8 apg

You might say the warriors were a legit supporting cast but he had no down low presence to pass to.. His numbers could have been much better than his posted 17 ppg and 9 apg. A quality shot down low is a much better take than a 3 jacked up by stephen jackson.

His skills + D'Antoni system + 2 legitimate mvp candidates in Melo and Amare + TC for lobs = one of his best years.

He's going to be relied on less for points than he ever has in his career and it is going to let him shine as the underrated passer he is.

Just my take..

Baron Davis plays no D, is notoriously out of shape every year, is already injured and approaching the end of his career. Overall, he is a huge downgrade from Billups.

The only good thing I can say about this acquisition is it is a 1 year deal so at least the Knicks didn't hurt their future by signing him. Either way, the Knicks will need another year or two before they seriously contend for a title. A PG rotation of Baron Davis, Bibby (even more washed up than Davis) and Douglas (who is really more suited to be a SG) wont be enough to win the title.

Baron is a downgrade from billups. Anyone who questions that isn't looking at it from an unbiased angle. The leadership, scoring, court vision, and clutch factor billups brings is unmatched.

But baron isn't a terrible pick up if they got him for a vet minimum. He can still ball. He had a PER of 17 last season. He'll have to be a pass first pg which will be interesting, and him missing 8-10 weeks is pretty bad. That's about 20 some games I believe.

The knicks wont need him for those 8-10 weeks. even if he sits out until march, the knicks only need him to help them out come may-june.

Why not predict the Nba awards

MVP: LBJ ( going to understand the system better and he will play off Dwade more rather than watching him)
Defensive POY: Dwight (just a beast with amazing hops)
MOP: Deandre Jordan (addition of CP3 gives him easy buckets)
Sixth Man: Evan Turner ( seems weird but he looked great in his first pre season game nd I expect him to be more ready for the NBA game and be more adjusted to coach Collins system)
Coach of the year: Vinny Del Negro ( Not that great a coach but clips win total will increase significantly therefore he wins hands down for me)
