I love canucks fans cuz they get excited soooo fast....i'll admit they're pretty good but they wont get past the second round.
Its not that canucks fans get excited sooo fast; we're just the best fans in all of hockey. We support our team through thick and thin, and the longest sold out games streak is solid proof of that. The GM place has been sold out for every single game since the 2002 season.

I bet the fact that the Canucks are the only major professional team in Vancouver (NBA, NHL, NFL, MLB) also has to do with that streak. Cities that have major teams in all four sports have multiple home games on the same nights, more variety etc.

I'm also putting my money on a Bruins-Red Wings final.

haha, LA doesnt deserve a hockey team, nor does Anaheim. The NHL needs to move these teams to markets that are deprived of a professional hockey team like Minnesota, Winnipeg, and Quebec. Why the heck would you move or expand to places like phoenix, nashville, and atlanta?! What do those hillbillies know about hockey? Those are hurting markets where nobody gives a rats ass about hockey.

I agree... and its just going to get worse in those markets with the current economy....organizations are going to lose some serious bread.

I highly doubt thats the case NSC. Everybody in Vancouver is obsessed with hockey and the Canucks. Heck, my chachi's used to give me updates and scores on games if I ever missed one. Now thats hardcore. Nobody cares enough for basketball, baseball and football to spend $75 on tickets. You're better off going to a hockey game.

Oh and to Jasjit, Vick (i know you're reading this) and other sharks fans: I don't care if the sharks went 82-0 for the season and won the president's trophy. YOu guys will always suck come playoff time. You guys are destined to choke in the postseason until you guys get moved to another city that actually supports a solid hockey team. I see your "fans" on a daily basis. I have never seen such a dead city while their #1 Seed Hockey teams is in the playoffs. hahaha

Um actually it is a contributing factor...regardless of how passionate hockey fans in vancouver are. To help prove this point....the Vancouver Grizzlies last year as an NBA franchise was 2001....Canucks sellout streak started in 2002. If you live in a city where there are more options for professional sports franchises, people will often times not even go to the games and stay home or go to a bar just so they can catch all the action. On a side note..there are fans in other NHL cities that are just as "hardcore" as Canucks fans, but debating which team has the "best fans" is a pretty baseless, intangible debate to have, don't you agree?

Meistro, it is not uncommon for the Red Wings and Tigers to be playing at the same time (minutes away from one another), while the Pistons are also playing. Obviously, this affects the attendance of all 3 events because all 3 teams have major followings. It is common sense. It is not about being "obsessed", but simple logic.

Harman, common sense? Simple logic? I find your argument to make very little sense. The only team effected by the 3 teams playing in your city at the same time is the tigers. Baseball season starts just as hockey and basketball season ends and the playoffs begin. All of the die hard hockey and basketball fans are attending playoff games. You really think pistons and red wings fans are going to go watch the first couple of tigers games out of a 162 game season?! Come on now! Sure, if it wasnt for the playoffs, maybe they would attend a tigers game.

NSC, the Grizzlies had nothing to do with the Canucks sell out streak starting. Better yet, both teams had nothing to do with each other besides having shared the same venue, the GM place. You wanna know why they started selling out in 2002? Before that they hadn't had a winning season since they went to the stanley cup finals in 1994. Thats FIVE seasons of shitty hockey. You really think the garage was going to sell out? They rebuilt the team and finally made the playoffs in 2001. Since then, they've been playing solid hockey, hence the sell out streak. So your argument about the grizzlies preventing sell outs at canucks games is poppycock.

The canucks played dallas a few games before the end of the season. Daniel Sedin took a hard stick to the mouth, lost one of his front teeth and left the ice as his shift ended. He leaves for the bench only to spit all the blood out of his mouth and returns on his next shift to score a power play goal. He waited til the end of the period to get stitched up during intermission and returned for the next period to assist another goal. The canucks end up winning mostly because of Sedin's amazing performance. THAT IS WHAT YOU CALL HOCKEY. THAT IS WHAT YOU CALL AN ATHLETE. Bunch of guys with sticks? Think again buddy. Sukhreet, you'd probably cry like a baby if that happened to you. I would say these guys exert themselves physically and mentally more than athletes an any other sport. Aside from the UFC that is.

Meistro, everyone else always makes so little sense to you....is it just that you are so brilliant or that everyone else is dumb? I'm not responding anymore to the canucks have the greatest fans, sellout every game since 2002 blah blah blah......my main point was that its ridiculous to have an argument over the "best fans"....I don't deny that people are passionate about hockey in Vancouver.

BUT you are way off in your dismissal of Harman's points. I grew up in Michigan, and have been a hardcore fan of the Pistons, Red Wings, Tigers, and Lions since I was young....pretty much fanatic status you could say. During this time of the year especially, I will make sure to catch all the action that I can in terms of Red Wings and Pistons playoffs, Tigers regular season, Lions NFL draft etc. Other hardcore fans alike, when presented with numerous choices, will try to see everything instead of just going to attend one game and completely missing the other. The different locations of the Palace of Auburn Hills and the Detroit stadiums make it a completely different experience attending a game in terms of what you do and where you go before/after etc. Again, without these choices, you are limited, and the focus is clearly on only ONE TEAM. Add college athletic allegiances in there and it gets even crazier. In the fall there is college football, Lions, Pistons, Red Wings all going at the same time. Until you have lived in this situation, you have no idea what you are talking about.

oh yea NSC, there is no difference between a "baseless" debate over the most hardcore fans and "toronto vs vancouver" as far bhangra regions are concerned ;) nice try though!

Right Meistro. The fact that Detroit has 4 major sports franchises and also has one of the biggest college football programs (Michigan football), one of the biggest college basketball programs (Michigan State) and best college hockey programs in the states has NO effect on the attendance of the NHL.

Clearly, when MSU made its run to the NCAA Finals not too long ago the college basketball fans were choosing to go to regular season hockey games. And when the Pistons were continuing its record setting pace of regular season sellouts, it did not effect the Red Wings..even though the seasons overlap. And, the fact that the Tigers season started plays no role in Red Wings attendance. And, the beginning of the Red Wings season wasn't affected by UofM football's intense rivalries with schools like Ohio State and MSU.

Also, lets completely ignore the fact that the state of Michigan is one of the worst in terms of unemployment, as surely that has no effect on attendance.

You are right Meistro. Canucks fans are the bestest!

I wasn't going to respond, but I need to set the record straight here.

Vancouver fans: Let's be real here, no one cares about the Canucks in the U.S. and even in Canada you guys are last on the popularity scale behind Toronto, Calgary and Montreal. I love how you guys get so passionate about the Canucks when the playoffs roll around and throw out terms like "best fans in the world"... Uhh No, not even remotely close. Montreal, San Jose and Minnesota are often regarded as the toughest stadiums to play in by your own CBC people. Yes San Jose has better fans than Vancouver. You hear more about H.P. Pavilion than you do about G.M. Place. Canuck fans for the most part are bandwagon fans... That's not to say that the Sharks dont have bandwagon fans either, cause we do, lots of them. But we have a reputation in the league for being some of the loudest, Vancouver has no reputation whatsoever outside of Vancouver... I don't care what the people in Vancouver say, I've been around Bruin fans, Rangers fans, Detroit fans, and no one ever talks about Vancouver.

Sharks: I knew the hockey gods would throw the Ducks at us. This was the last team in the world I wanted to play. I would play the Canucks, Blackhawks, Blues, or anyone else besides the Redwings in the first round. Vancouver and Detroit lucked out big time with St. Louis and Columbus. St. Louis was probably the hottest team coming into the playoffs, but ask anyone who they didn't want to play in the first round, and everyone says Anaheim. Anaheim is a far tougher opponent than Columbus or the Blues, they're pretty much the Calgary Flames of the U.S. Whatever though, no excuses, we are in deep shit right now. I don't think the series is over, but if we don't pull through tonight, it's over, and I'll finally know how Bills and Eagles fan feel like when their teams did so little with so much talent.

Jasjit: Stick to preaching your religious BS, don't venture into hockey cause honestly it's a waste of my time discussing things with an individual with the mental capacity of a 2 year old... I work on the east coast, watched all 82 games with NHL gamecenter staying awake till 1 am in the morning on most game nights, don't even begin to question my passion for my teams.
