Re: Re: NJ Warriors Warriors @ BAB 2014

I love the style and traditionality of the routine, but I do feel like there are some points where I did see dancers not going all out or walking through the set while being in the back and that kind of kills it for me but it is something that can be worked on learned with practice. That said keep up what you guys are doing, NJW are becoming one of the best music teams in the circuit. Best of Luck at future competitions!!

That was Awesome man.. 8 minutes of raw Bhangra isn't easy to pull off.
Really creative with some of the moves and still did them with full joash.
Obviously, some of the dancers stopped smiling and got tired, execution lacked a bit by some dancers but that happens with every team. Remember its much harder to do a set without gimmicks and wow factors because every single move has to be executed 100% making you much more exhausted (like Live Bhangra). The less running around you do on stage, the harder it is to disguise unexperienced dancers. Y'all didn't even use Stage Markers and formations were pretty clean, Respect!!

Honestly, some people here need to reprogram their brains and stop expecting wow factors and new ideas from every new set/competition/team. If you didn't enjoy this, go watch some other gimmicky team to get your dopamine rush.
Congrats on First Place, Stay Folk , Peace.

Started cheering for them from my computer screen, whoever says this wasn't clean has no eye for detail. The judges aren't idiots either, this was fantastic bhangra, gimmicks or no gimmicks. Every team has some parts in a performance where they drop from 100 to 90, but without imperfection, we'd all be just a bunch of robots doing jhoomer.

Also sick mix I can't wait to hear a full quality version of this. Congratulations guys!

I'm probably on their nuts a little too much right now, but w/e.
Lol I think you're on their nuts just the right amount. In all seriousness though, I also like this set/performance more than the BBC one. Like a lot of other people, I initially felt let down by the lack of "wow" factor compared to the BBC set but once you get over that and watch it for what it is this routine is brilliant, ridiculously difficult and executed at a much higher level than any current team in the circuit can do. It's incredible how without a single bullshit gimmick they can make such a lasting impression. Yes, you can argue that sometimes dancers were walking, not going all out and there were some mess ups but honestly, who cares? That stuff happens with every team and these guys look better walking than most dancers on the circuit do going all out.

Can't wait for the next performance. It's been too long since a team made me this excited to watch them.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and it makes sense that some people like the set and others don't.

Regardless great set, good work boys. Congratulations on another well deserved victory. You boys need to compete a little more often!!!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, so weather you like or hate the set, keep the feedback coming! As for the gimmick/ bhangra situation, a lot of teams loose competitions because they don't read the rubric and don't make their routine accordingly, every competition is different and has their own rubric, so weather you hate us or love us, keep the feedback coming! #KeepFolkBhangraAlive

bhangra was very good and i really liked the choreo - but i dont expect to see walking and laziness from a top tier team like this. obviously they have been trained very well but i think the reason people may not be giving this as much credit as it deserves is simply ebcause we all hold nj to a very high standard

By definition, someone who has an eye for detail is someone who is able to observe and recognize minor, precise, small details, particulars or minutia of something. By definition, someone who was able to discern discrepancy between dancers (aka notice how certain dancers are doing basic steps differently throughout the routine) and therefore verbalizes that they could have been cleaner, given the level of praise as the "best team in the circuit", certainly has an eye for detail, not the complete opposite.

What you could argue, (and this is under the assumption that you want to be taken seriously and express your thoughts with an actual command of the English language) is that those details could be trifling and that those who thought this wasn't clean enough are not looking at the bigger picture. The bigger picture being that the "best team in the circuit" may not have to be cleanest, but execute bhangra in a raw, "folk" manner where choreography, high energy and decent execution matter more than synchronization, nakhra, formations, effects, x-factors, gimmicks..etc. The bigger picture. Not the cleanliness details. I may not 100% agree (maybe 75% ± 5% - I prefer crisper execution and dancers to be at the same level), but that is an argument that is actually sensible.

Striving for imperfection is just dumb. And if you find yourself and your team dancing like robots in jhoomer, may I suggest you and your team learn how to dance in a more aesthetically pleasing way? Perhaps more grace? More modhe? A bit of nakhra and some stage presence? If you actually dance in an aesthetically pleasing way, synchronization with your team will always look better.

Not to jump down your throat, but NJ ALWAYS has people that walk through sets. See Elite 8 2010, 2011, Tdot 2011, Jashan 2012, and even this past BBC set. It's usually because the set difficulty level is always so high. I know what you're saying here, but people are just finding reasons to hate on this for some reason.

This thread has been moderated and unlocked. Strikes/warnings sent out for offenders. I know some innocuous posts were take out, but probably they were irrelevant or discussed the off-topicness too much. It's just to streamline the thread, so if you didn't get a strike announcement you're fine.

Thanks! Any questions feel free to message me. Congrats NJW!

I enjoyed the set. Personally, I felt the Boston Bhangra set was much better though; that set was memorable top to bottom.
