Non-Profit Status?? TAX ID or EIN number?

Hey guys I was wondering if any of the other teams on the circuit have NPO status? 501(c)7 status or anything of the sort?


Im thinking other collegiate teams might have come across this issue?
We are trying to get some money from our University and they require an organization bank account which further requires us to have a EIN or Tax ID number.


So anyone with any experience setting one of these up??

Through work, I constantly use this website to register EIN #'s. Just follow the steps, its really easy.

if you click on "additional types of organizations" it gives u the option to choose different categories of non-profit. just register your EIN and thats all the bank should need to open your account.

Tried that from various computers and it keeps giving me an error after giving in my information. It just gives me the hours the site is active but not sure why it doesnt work.

Would you happen to know if we would have to file taxes for the team every year in this case as well??

try that link, then towards the bottom click the link which says "apply online now"

or type "apply for ein irs" into google and click the first link and scroll down to where it says "apply online now"

hmm i think Social Clubs with the IRS get 501(c)7 ?? idk the true difference but i know gurdwara's are usually (c)3 and they take tax-deductible donations and i guess the money that we would take as 501(c)7 isnt tax deductible for the other party?? idk? lol as long as we dont have to pay the government haha
