Do you guys forget how old the Spurs are? Manu is hurt all the time now, and TD has major problems with Pau and Bynum every time they have played the last 2 years. RJeff is a good perimeter player but Kobe or Artest will shut him down. Spurs are a distant second in the west.

see the spurs maybe old but they are experienced tim duncan is still gonna be a threat manu is gonna be healthy soon tony parker is still young jefferson is good and they got a good post rookie to play with tim duncan who is dejuan blair so lakers are a good 3rd place behind nuggets and first place spurs

Lakers 3rd? They are the defending champions and will have a healthy Bynum and a world class wing defender next year in Artest. No team in the west has answers for them. Manu might never be productive like he was before, Timmy is not the same as he was a few years ago and is on the decline. Dejaun Blair? Are you serious?

l0l im sorry bro, your making bynum seem like hes a superstar or something or even a huge contributing factor. He's just a big body thats hit nd he has streaks where he plays good at times, when the opposing teams defense is whack. None of the lakers point guards can guard tony parker no matter how old hes getting. Manu coming off the bench destructive, RJ i followed him in jersey, hes not a perimeter threat he can put it on the floor and drop it down with some authority. The Lakers come in 2nd to the spurs and then the nuggets, as go0d as the nuggets were, billups is gettin old. but Melo is NASTTYYYY =]

Dude is like younger than me and has shown flashes of brilliance both times before he got 2 random freak injuries. He is one of the best young players in the game.

Guarding Tony Parker is not impossible, the Lakers have done it before, 08 Western Conference Finals anyone? Last two years in the regular season? Only thing destructive about Manu are his ankles now, dude can't stay healthy. RJ is a total one dimensional offensive player, he has absolutley no post game or turn around shot, he is a perimeter shooter and always has been one. You really think Kobe or Artest won't shut him down if they wanted to?

Where have you been the last 2 years? Did you not just watch the Lakers dismantle Denver at home in game 6? Awesome Melo is nasty, I didn't know winning basketball games was a contest in nastiest if that was true Jamario Moon would be an all world player. No one in the West has frontcourt depth like the Lakers do. Gasol, Odom, Artest and Bynum all rotating those 96 minutes at 4-5. Pau has turned into an amazing post defender and the Lakers length screws teams up like crazy. Oh yea and Kobe in the backcourt doesn't hurt.

Are you referring to the Jamario Moon summer session where he went bonkers...yeah how about 7 ppg.

A lot of the west and east will be factored by trades during the midseason where the contenders will want to win now, and who plays smart towards the end of the regular season and gets their vets rest. The spurs have got maybe one more great run in them and then they are going to need to start getting some young, all around talent to supply parker with. The nuggets might be in the best position to make a deal, but itll be interesting.

You have to put the lakers one. Orlando added vince whos not greater than hedo and is just, at this point in his career, another shooter. Cleveland just made their frontcourt older and less mobile with shaq(what are you going to do with z?), the nuggets still have mad consistency issues, and the spurs need to play healthy. No ones perfect, but the lakers are the closest. Your starting a 6'3 point, a 6'7-6'8 2, a 6'10 three, two 7 footers, and another hybrid 7 of the bench. Thats ridiculous, especially the talent.

Moon has some crazy nasty dunks man! haha I pretty much agree with you. If I had to rank the NBA teams in Preseason it would go something like this

1. Lakers
2. Magic
3. Boston
4. Cavs
5. Spurs
6. Denver

What do you think?

so pissed. Honestly, odom is taking the ride to another championship. OH and COMPTON, id switch your 2 and 3 up. Boston is getting OLD, but even with a 50% KG theyre owning the east. Magic dont stand a chance against the celtics. But honestly, unless KG pulls through to at least 75-80% its gonna be Celtics LA with LA on top. If only the nuggets could FINISH games and pull through stronger on defeats, theyre my #2 in the west. Oh and cavs are not ANY BETTER than last year. Shaq= useless. You're putting the biggest center in the league IN THE PAINT! that is LEBRONS PLAYGROUND! Why clog up the lane??? unless shaq's minutes fill in for the little precious time that lebron is on the bench, I'm doubting any large success. Shaq CAN'T move around picks, and if Magic go up against them, even without Turkoglu its gonna be a day of raining 3 pointers, and lebron will go home early again.***

***k so i had to edit this. IF AND ONLY IF MO AND WEST LEARN TO DRAIN 3's, this can add a whole new element to the cavs offense. Shaq in the paint can pull the Howard dish pass for a 3 bomb, or lebron can drive and dish out when, naturally, 2 defenders jump on him. If they manage this with precision, its gonna be a lethal aspect to their play.

As much as I regret to say it, LA is gonna win again this year. You don't even need Kobe on that team anymore for it to be a force to be honest. Kobe, though still obviously the life force, has a set of generals who GUARANTEED could produce without him even being there. I'm interested to see how much artest and odom clash for time, because Artest is great defensively, but I like odom more. the 3 big man front was the Lakers Z factor (cause kobe was X lol)

hater, hahaha. We got a kings fan in the forum. haha.

That lakers front court is the main reason the Lake-Show did so well. the fact that Ariza is gone and Artest is in, with Lamar back, this is another championship comin to the City of Angels.

1. Lakers
2. Orlando
3. Boston
4. Cleveland
5. Denver

Im going with Orlando at two, because as of now, even though KG is getting healthier, he's still not at a KG type level, and I see that being a problem for them, but as the regular season comes to an end, Boston might be the number 2 team, but for now, im keeping them at 3.

I think those 3 teams in the east are really close, I just like Orlando's front court depth now with Bass and Gortat back. I think Boston is gonna be really lucky if all 4 of their main guys are healthy, if they are then I think they are the top dog in the east.

Fair enough, boston at 100% WILL be lethal (and i'm hoping for it to steal one from LA lol)

Steal one? i dont think so man. Lakers are gonna come out hungry for another "Larry" and if Boston comes out as the top dog in the east regular season and the ECC, the Lakers are gonna be even hungrier for revenge for that embarressing championship run they had against boston. on top of that, with Ron Ron on the perimeter playing every game like a pit, the Lakers will be ranked 1 in defense this next season, and most definitlely 1 on offense, and the fact that their possible contender will be boston (if all four guys are healty) he'll create problems for pierce, kobe can take ray, shuting out their two main offensive threats.

ron artest is good, but not enough to shut down pierce. its a "hope to contain him" situation, plus KG will be there to clean up shop with boards and put backs. Not saying your wrong, but a steal is possible. And LA is better, thats why it would be a steal... and not about being better. I just want to bring the trophy back east and out of the hands of LA. ANYONE would be better, except the GOD AWFUL knicks... still hate those bastards and i love that theyre at the bottom and going home next season without any stars.

well i dont argue that if lamar is back with lakers then there the threat, i was lookin at it as if he wasnt coming back, no doubt lakers will be a serious threat with him. I still dont believe in bynum, i have a hard time believing he can be a star in the league, like i said he's a big body. Nd i really can't see boston coming out on top in the east. Their starting line-up is just so old, and adding Wallace doesnt make it any younger. If there takin to game 7's (bulls and hawks) i dont see them winning consistently, there are too many young talented teams that can keep em running and winded. Artest can guard Pierce, cause pierce is getting old and he's had to carry that team for soo long, its got to be getting to him, and Ray Allen is ice cold in the playoffs, so lakers dont need to worry bout him, he'll have probably one breakout game in the playoffs, but it wont be in the finals.
Denver, needs consistency they have the hunger and they want it, but they haven't figured it out completely not in my eyes, with all the dumb taunting and mouthing off they did, it really cost them. They just some more experience and they'll be taking the west in 2 seasons.

singh5327, 2 Seasons, billups will be too old (though he'd still be better than 75% of guards in the league). It's next season or bust for them, because billups honestly glues their team together. I'd pull for them over LA any day. Also, Boston is old but not peaked like the heat were for their championship season. They have plenty of energy, esp for another season at least. After that though, I can see them following hte path of the heat and ending up on the bottom of the league because all your old timers are cashed out or retired.

jsidhu, there is NO way orlando is number one in the league. They have done NOTHING to be any better than last year. Sure VC is stronger on the drive than turkoglu (don't get me wrong, Turk can drive but he just pussies out sometimes i don't understand. over reliant on his shot i guess), but def not a better play maker. Other than that, no major changes for improvement. And like someone said earlier, spurs are something of a tossup but i do find them a bit old. If they can control the tempo of games like they used to, theyll be good. but Noone can control the energy of LA, and i doubt they can slow down the nuggets.

orlando cud be #1 in the league because dwight howard has more experience now and vince carter is better than hedo also jameer nelson is gonna be healthy they have rashard lewis u cant really doubt them that much because they are a beast ball club
