Why not make your predictions from each group? Let's see how well you can predict wins/losses.

My picks are as follows:

Group A: 1) France 2) Mexico
Group B: 1) Argentina 2) Nigeria (Messi is BEAST)
Group C: 1) England 2) USA
Group D: 1) Germany 2) Ghana (Tough choice between Australia,Ghana, & Sebia.. I went with a sleeper team & the crowd favorite to advance from this group)
Group E:1) Netherlands 2) Cameroon (Tough choice between Denmark & Cameroon.. but I had to go with the strongest African country that qualified. A lot will rely on the chemistry between Eto'o, Song, and Makoun)
Group F: 1)Italy 2) Paraguay
Group G: 1) BRAZIL!! 2) Portugal (I still can't believe the Brazil's coach chose to leave Ronaldinho off the starting lineup.. pisses me off, since he's one of my favorite players. Tough choice between Portugal & Ivory Coast.. let's hope Ronaldo can step up their offense)
Group H: 1) Spain 2) Chile

It would be awesome to see Brazil vs Argentina in the finals, with Brazil getting the gold!

mexico totally got screwed out of a first half goal and south africa with a stunning goal in the second. around 15 minutes left, mexico better tie it up.

edit: mexico didnt get screwed actually. there was only one defender back, the goalie was up infront so i guess its really offside

Carlos Vela Offside Goal V South Africa - World Cup 2010

Just to explain, because I know some of my buddies were confused by this call:

Offsides technically require TWO defenders to be between you and the goal. Usually the keeper counts as that second defender, but in this case the keeper came out leaving only ONE defender. The attacker WAS offsides. A very close play, but the correct call was made.

The worst part about that play is that if that "offiside" attacker wasn't there, the ball would have still went in and it would have been a goal for South Africa.

A great game nonetheless, Mexico dominated most of it (especially in the first half).

How does that offside rule work?? It doesn't make sense to me. I've played organized soccer for 11 years, and never had that rule enforced. If you're on a 2-on-2 breakaway (one fullback and goalie on D), as long as you break past the FB after the ball is passed you're onsides. So its just you vs the goalie. I thought the Mexico forward was onsides when the pass was made past the goalie? I'm trying to find a replay but I dont have access to youtube at work

HAHAHA CPT i love the England is Gay banner
