all of americas goals came from tips and scrambles infront of the net with the exception of the second goal. straight up you guys just got lucky. there was no skill shown by any player on that ice that game besdies ryan miller. hes the only reason you guys even won. USA's playing style is no where near compared to Canada. we have the best 2 way hockey team in this tournament. you guys were out shot, out hit, out passed, out bitch made. and if your wondering what a "good goal" looks like, check out the high lights from the canadian germany game from tonight, Shea webers blast that ripped right through the net or the iginla roofing. a lot of people said that luooo should have been in net, which i do agree on but Marty Broduer is still Canadas # 1. the only thing i do hope is canada gets by russia tonight and usa beats sweden so we can fight it out for the gold.

p.s i dont need to pray to god that i wont get shit on by some guy on this forum who really means nothing to me..

Dude what are you smoking? Goals scored by tips and scrambles in front of the net are an important part of the game... NHL goalies will stop every single shot that they get a clear look at... I can't believe you made that statement and you consider yourself a hockey fan..

hahah fair enough... I guess the NHL has a lot of shitty goals with the exception of a few nice ones here and there... I'm not even sure that makes sense....

Isn't saying that we only won because of a goalie like saying a 1-0 game is only won because of a sweet shot by player X?

It's silly and childish. The US was outplayed statistically for basically the entire game, but the fact remains that we had more goals than Canada after 3 periods. Can't have it both ways...if you say tip ins are shitty, I say so is your team for 1) letting them happen 2) not being resilient enough to bounce back.

This is why the game is played

its all good. Keep luongo in net and we're good to go. Just make sure Thornton and Boyle are nowhere near the puck. Crosby, Staal, Nash, and Iggy are gonna step big time against russia, they're bring it in big games.

Crosby and Nash haven't done anything, maybe they will finally step up... San Jose carrying Canada to the medal rounds, you can thank me later...

you give the sharks WAYYYYYYYYY too much credit. They were nowhere to be found when we needed them on sunday.

If sticking a goon in front of the opponent's net was all it took to succeed at hockey, Oliwa and McKenna would have led the Penguins back from the brink sooner than Crosby and Malkin.

Sure the elite offensive players are on show...but so are the elite defensive & 2 way players (granted, some haven't been playing elite but that's another debate). In such a context, it isn't unreasonable to assume that the quality of goals scored will fail to match the (perceived) skill level of the goalscorer. Quality then goes up against poorer opponents, as in your example of Canada v Germany.

That said, I'll concede that the American team is not exactly filled to the brim with stickhandlers. But it doesn't need to be. In a tournament as short as this, you need to ice a team with the best chance to immediately cohere as a unit malleable enough to match up with the different playing styles of various potential opponents, many (if not all) of whom will not have been scouted in any real depth. At the moment, it looks like the US has such a unit and if that means that the system/personnel contributes to the type of goals they'll score (and keep out), so be it. The Russian judge has no say. No matter how pretty, a goal is worth 1 on the scoreboard.

sharks are holding it down for Canadians still no doubt. as long as canada can cycle the puckk all game long then canada can get this game. keep thhe puck away from ovechkin and kovalchuk is going to be key. and like i said earlier i do understand that a point is a point its huge for this level of play. all im sayin is that the goals were soft. yes i do expect more at this level of play but hey its only my opinion. Staal Crosby Iggy line played a dirty game last night hopefully they can carry it forward in todays game. Luo will need to play a A+ game aswell. Pronger needs to REALLLY step it up. he has a shot and he needs to start throwing that pressure on from the blue line. Keith, Doughty, Weber and Niedermayer need to play just like last night aswell. Hopefully the Germany game gave players a chance to bring up the chemistry between each other because tonight its going to matter the most.

Tonights game is going to be epic. Screw my exam tomorrow, I'm watching it all. You just wish that Canada hadn't shat the bed against the US and we coulda been seeing these two in the later rounds when it means so much more. Another chapter of Crosby vs Ovechkin will be completed.

Olympic hockey TV views are gonna drop massively after tonight.. unless canada wins.

Easy there buddy... Nabakov is the 2nd best goaltender in the NHL/World behind Brodeur... Don't be so quick to knock the goaltender... Brodeur got his ass lit up the the considerably weaker U.S. team, you won't see people throwing out statements like, "Canada is showing their lack in world class goal tending"...
