Palin's FIRST Interview

The interview Palin had with Charlie Gibson was pretty funny. The woman didn't really know much about foreign policy and she went in circles for a while. I found the clips on youtube and felt that I might as well share it. Thursday night's topic was national security/foreign policy, and friday will be about domestic issues and her "record". I can't wait to see tomorrow night's stuff. Her point about the Bush Doctrine was idiotic. She had no idea what she was talking about. :)

Wow, she is looking like a mess. For a potential VP to have no idea about the Bush Doctrine, a party she belongs to and the party that has been in office for 8 years, is unbelievable. She has shown how truly clueless she is about foreign policy. McCain's claim that she is ready because she lives "close" to Russia is so laughable, as if she gets experience by simply being near a country. Give me an example of foreign policy experience, otherwise, just admit you have none.

And by the way she answered questions about Russia and Pakistan, it shows she can only speak in generalities about the issues. Sure, she may have overall philosophies on how to handle the situations, but the woman has no specific, well thought out plans on how to address some of the key issues facing the world today. Joe Biden will crush her in their debate if he can manage to stick to issues and not let her steal the show with her life story.

from ABC: When asked if Georgia joined NATO, whether the United States should go to war if the country was again invaded by Russia, Palin responded: "Perhaps so. I mean, that is the agreement when you are a NATO ally, is if another country is attacked, you're going to be expected to be called upon and help."

What a n00b, literally. Not only did Russia not provoke/invade in the latest conflict, but every president in the last 50 years has tried to avoid war with Russia, and she's like "yeah maybe lets see brb"

The sad thing is that there will be a lot of people swayed by her despite her being so unaware of issues she should know about. What angers me more is the lies and the mudslinging and the fact that they play a bigger role than thought. People, honestly, will believe almost everything they hear and read from newspaper articles, books and election speeches.

Honestly, someone could start a rumour that Obama raped someone and it would affect his campaign is some form. Even if its proven to be wrong, people will still associate him as an accused rapist and he'll lose votes. ???

The Bush Doctrine question really got her confused. She really needs to be challenged straight up. Hopefully Biden can look mad pretty for the debates, and he'd just show her up...he should also have even more children, and beat her at that game too.

This is the problem with Obama's popularity, it mask's his true weaknesses as well. Harman commented on how Palin can only speak generally on most issues. If there is a king of generic, run of the mill answers, it is Obama. If you switch Palin with Obama and add his charismatic touch on it, but kept the thoughts the same, people would be saying that Obama nailed another interview. This is american politics, it is pandering to middle america. It is pandering to those who vote more on perception than the issues.

Common if the american public was THAT concerned with real issues, there is no way they would have voted bush back in 2004. If America was concerned with the issues behind the election, there would be no way that americans could vote bush back in, even though it had at that time be proven he falsified a war.

It is all perception with americans, it is who they can relate to the most. If politicans got into the niddy griddy of issues, the american public would be disengaged. I got a chance to talk to Segolene Royal who was the person running against the current president of France in 2007. I basically got a chance to sit and chat about her views on western politics and she basically laughed. She said how over here, you can win without ever taking a stance, and thats why americans are never really sure if their candidate will produce in the oval office. In europe, nobody cares about how you say it, rather, what your record is, and generic answers basically dont fly there.

Palin did well in the interview for her first time. Basically she dumbed it down to cater to her main auidence. If Bush can win overwelhming with his abilities to dodge questions, then Palin/ McCain should be a cake walk. Americans dont care about the issues, its about how good you sound when you address your basic platforms.
