i posted a picture from burgh weekend on the fcb thread, but was wondering if theres a section where its more appropriate to post pictures.

Competition weekends usually have many great pictures (funny/artistic/whatever else) associated with them. Is there somewhere on btf that we can share the memories?

thanks

Seeing as no one responded to this, I think a photo section would be a fantastic idea.

I liked what BBC did this year by compiling Instagram photos/videos and tweets with #BostonBhangra
http://bostonbhangra.com/live/
This didn't include facebook photos or photos taken by professional photographers, but maybe other comps or BTF could implement something similar as well?

Would love to have a photo section on BTF. Perhaps even a vlog subsection where teams can post vlogs of their competition weekends/practices/silly team activities etc. I definitely would enjoy those! It would encourage teams as well to make vlogs.

Great suggestions guys! I, too, think some of these ideas would be awesome to incorporate down the road.

Photos & Vlogs have generally just been posted in the "Main Bhangra Discussion" or "Videos and Performances" sections, but having a dedicated subforum for these might be great when we plan to upgrade our forum platform.

To take it one step further, it would be even cooler if the teams & competitions that people are associated with had "tags" (like twitter) as KChhang mentioned. Just as an example - First Class Bhangra could have a tag of #FCB. So if you are associated with First Class Bhangra and have the team listed in your profile, every time someone puts up a picture or video of first class bhangra and they use the tag #FCB, you would receive a notification that your team was mentioned on BTF and you haven't read the post yet.

Unfortunately we're fairly limited with our current platform (SMF), but maybe in the future as we transition into "BTF 3.0" with using XenForo (similar to how we are testing with the Raas community: http://raasteamsforum.com/), this would all be a possibility.

My thoughts,

~ Basim :)

I think that would be a really cool idea but I feel some people who have many teams listed would be getting a lot of unnecessary notifications.

Otherwise having a photos/vlogs subforum is a really good idea.

Yes, I agree it would be super annoying if you had multiple teams or competitions that you're associated with listed in your profile. But that's why there would be options to turn off notifications that you didn't want to see. For example, if you just want to keep up with your most current team, just turn off notifications of all the rest. What's life without chocies? ;)

Of course if you're like Arjun Barua whose goal is to dance with every team on the planet and keep up with everyone, your might like all those notifications! lol. #neverretire #sickestbeard

Okay that makes sense and would be a really good thing to have.
