kinda thought bout this topic after reading the pro choice/pro life topic:

anywayz has any1 ever ready "The Giver"....or like anything by Ayn Rand...one issue often seen in these books is population control. In "The Giver" life and death don't just come it is pretty much layed out; so just wondering even though this is really far stretched out say the population of the world explodeddd like there were just wayyyy too many people would u want to institiute some sort of population control (like limiting the number of children people have/ to a far extreme if you've read "The Giver" kill the old or those who are not seen as useful to society-ok that sound really bad)....but lets just say you had to control the population so what circumstances would u take?

It really isn't as crazy as you think Parul. The United States Government has sponsored and supported population control of minorities and lower class groups throughout history. You need not look farther than the reason birth control was invented by Margaret Sanger for use of control of minority groups as their were "too many of them" and to control poor people who they felt simply had "bad genes", thus the reason for their poverty.

Woodrow Wilson supported forced sterilization of certain groups of people, and even though it was overturned by the Supreme Court, Virginia still forced forced sterilizations in the late 1920s. I believe over 60,000 people were forcefully sterlizied in America in the 1950s-1960s by the government in order to root out the "weak" and "dumb". Funny enough, they were always poor or minorities. You can look up Buck v. Bell for more specifics on the reasons behind it. Funny enough, when the Nazis were tried with crimes against humanity for eugenics, they brought up Buck v. Bell to show America's hypocrisy in trying to silently create a master race while fighting for "humanity".

Forced sterilizations went on in this country until the 1980s. So even though it may seem like the government would never force population control, it already has. And you can bet if it could, it would do it all over again. You don't think the government would like to wipe out cities like Detroit and Flint? And with the way rights are being taken away every day, don't be surprised if it happens. And if it does, we are the first ones out.

thats right Harman and the government continues to control population. Poverty is a control of a society. The fact that drugs were introduced to a ghetto, was a way to control a population. The fact that schools in under developed areas are under funded and the government doesnt do anything about it, is a way to control the population. The thinking is that people who are poor, wont be able to afford the burden of children. Thats the thought.

The fact of the matter is, we, as in miniorities arent supposed to be here. We are not supposed to be equals. I mean, you can call me a fanatic, but if you have an upper brass culture, that ingrains in the minds of their decendents that the inferiority given to these minioriites is justified, I dont care how long it has been, that culture will continue to grow. Those who are at the controlling ends of society, who tend to be white, do still consider us as inferior, whether you admit it or not. Whether people want to live in a fairy land and think that only 40 years after the civil rights abuses, we are in a society from the top or the bottom, that is built to allow succes equally and for all, we are crazy.

Population control is a way to deter the inferior to re-create and continue a heavy burden on the upper brass. you can do it with fertilization like Harman pointed out, or by more implicit means by allowing poverty to continue, introducing drugs at a high rate, promote industries who glorify drug use, and not allow for equal education, for people to break this endless cycle of despair.

Exactly Summy, I urge everyone to investigate the flow of drugs into this country and the Iran-Contra scandal. You can also check out the flow of drugs to this country during the Vietnam war and America's involvement with opium during its relations with Afghanistan to overthrow Russia. It always amazes me people think your nickel and dime hustlers on the corner are the real culprits of the drug problem, when the real gangsters in wearing suits in Washington calling the shots. You can bet some dude in Detroit wasn't making crack cocaine when the epedimic struck, it was brought here. The question is, by who? And who authorized it?

You will be shocked at the way this country and others control and manipulate their populations for their financial gain.

I think that if there was every an issue of overpopulation it actually would not be an overpopulation.
The issue would be countries like the U.S. and other industrialized countries consume an non-proportional amount of resources in relativity to the rest of the world.
In other words, if every person consumed an equal amount of resources the idea of a 'population crisis' would nearly be invalid.

on a side note there are countries that aren't concerned about controlling population but actually worried about increasing their population, ex. france and japan....at times this doesn't even seem like a concern yet Japan actually has a population growth of -0.139% do you think that Japan should continue to keep their growth rate as it is or should it invest in developing its population. I'm not entirely sure of the entire story, but France has taken initiative to develop their population by helping out families, funding education. But should the countries stay as they are or no? Also France's options are to either invest in such programs, or to have an open door policy to allow for population growth....would that help them?
