1. i want to make hip hop, techno beats... anything fast pace
2. i have virtual dj and fl studio, im okay with vdj but cant do much on fl studio
3. i dont have any hardware... my budget is pretty low as of now i ahve about 400 dollars
4. ive mixed for a bout a yr, but i dont have any experience with instruements

If you have $400, get a decent M-audio midi controller, id recommend you get a M-audio axium 25 since you are not really familiar with producing music, get that, you can always move the octaves up or down.

Use it with fruityloops, i'd recommend get reason, a step up from fruity loops, get familiar with it. Keep using it, watch youtube tutorials there are A LOT.

Rest is just practice and creative juices!

Yea Jabar does a lot more of this than I do (2Nyce does a lot too, I'm sure there are others) so reach out to them personally with questions.


A solid MIDI controller can make your life so easy (just play the beat and the program can be set up to align the MIDI info). Doing it by hand is a pain. Reason is a very very good tool (especially linked with Pro Tools!), but the biggest part of producing is actually coming up with solid work. The more expensive programs make your life easier, but they can't help you straight up create a better vision.


I would suggest messing around with FL until you feel like you need more and are ready to spend the money. I hear a lot of really shitty beats out of FL studio where people just put a bass every 4 and a kick and a snare and make some shitty 16 beat loop and think it's the shit.....get that past that phase of your producing and then spend the money once you have a clearer idea of what beats you want to produce.




Good Luck! Remember, the programs and hardwares are just tools, you are the core of the beat, doesn't matter what you use Hustle and Flow it.
