Woohoo Awesome job girls

That chua boli is my fave, I've seen the same part done by some college team in India and I always laugh so hard! The video is on youtube somewhere I forgot though.

I think on the overall it was super enerjetic....skinnier girl in yellow/blue is a really good giddha dancer - this is in reference to what I have picked up from watching tons of live Indian Giddha teams.

I think the singing needs to be much much stronger, it drops too often which takes away from the performance in the video.

Also - props for the energy, IMO Giddha takes more energy than live bhangra - with the singing and crazy energy dancing at the same time.

so proud of u girls :) congrats on first place - reppin DC and east coast! loved all the boliyan - some parts of the set were extremely strong and very cute! some girls definitely killed it with energy and double addi lol and it all came together really well! i agree the one thing to watch out for next time is the singing. it is definitely hard to dance and even harder to sing and dance but it does drop at times - def try to get more ppl to the mic to sing, seemed like some people were always at the mic while others came only once or twice - might help to give all the girls an equal amount of time at the mic and in the peeda to take a break of sorts.

cant wait to see the other videos! heard a lot of great things about all the teams and the competition!

Wow great props to you girls! Loved the performance. Gidha should be done with this type of energy! and I think people tend to associate gidha to slower "Aunty Gidha" that everyone see's their moms do at local vaisakhi shows but dont realize that our moms prob threw down like this in their jawani :)

and yes girl in the pink/green phulkari suit KILLED it!

lol I can just imagine my mom and masis (5 of them) forming their own mini giddah team and dancing all up in their hill-station school haha

Impact & Overall Presentation..............................................................40 points
Aesthetic Elements..................................................................................15 points
Choreography & Execution...................................................................45 points
Total:...100 points

overall impact/presentation: your opening, overall performance, and closing (does it captivate the audience, stage presence of individual dancers, and does it leave a lasting impression)

aesthetic elements: costumes, props, and instruments (do your outfits rep traditional giddha, are your outfits colorful and festive, and do you incorporate props)

choreo and execution: creativity/originality and traditionality (your nakhra, how you execute your boliyan, do your moves match with the boliyan, smooth transitions, and over synchronization)

THank you everyone.
The girl in yellow salwar and blue kameez is Rano Dhaliwal. SHe is the youngest on the team - 17+ and the way she dances is phenomenal. She teaches us addi and nakhre and choreo and a bunch of other stuff.
I hope giddha is recognized as much as Bhangra in future in the US and I hope we can have more giddha competitions. This was hands down one of the best competitions - the credit goes to the TPD committee.

1+ Neha - I couldn't agree more. We'll keep it in mind.
