Punjabi Folkdance Festival 2009.....Prize Money??

Ok guys I have a question for the teams that placed at PFDF back in May 2009 in Toronto. Did all of the other teams receive their prize money already ? It's been about 5 months now and my team stilll hasn't received anything yet.

Why am I asking this after so long ? I didn't want to ask the organizers right away because one its rude, secondly the organizers usually have to sort out their stuff and what not first. But 5 months guys come on ! I've contacted almost everyone over the months but no one has given me a response as to what's going on. Just wanted to know if this happened with any other team or if it's just my team :-\

this is pretty sketchy, teams put so much time and resources into competitions....the least you could do is keep your commitment and give them what was promised, rather than just making money off them......

comps should have money ready on the stage to give..manhattan bhangra 2007 still hasnt payed us llol sooo eventually teams just loose interesttt. p.s if AEG or VIRSA ever catch those organizerss pleaseee slap them up

i tried contacting the lady in charge of paying out the teams and what not more than 7 times but no response as usual...

i agree with a contract if your gonna work that hard pay for your flights and you win its not fair your basiclly paying to do something you live for

yeh they said something along the lines of them being bankrupt or sumthing stupid....we didnt get a penny i believe....

I don't think Shan E or Nachdi got their prize money either. Shouldn't this kind of thing be a breach of contract or something as the monetary value of the prize winnings are clearly stated in the registration package. Meh, but im not a lawyer so who knows. But one thing I do know is that we ain't gonna be competiting there again or any other comp held by TEB.....pretty shifty business :-\

BANKRUPT ??? wow unless admission was free or they rented out the theater for more than they would make that supid i suggest the next time these promoters promote something it should be boycotted

Ok so I don't know if any team has been contacted or not, but after reading this thread the lady contacted me and basically said she wasn't aware that the teams hadn't been paid out and they all assumed that one of the other organizers was going to handle the prize money. She also said that she would work on contacting the person and gave me their number as well but as usual i texted and mailed and called and everythingg and no response. I was basically given different numbers to call and chase people for money...uhmmm ? It's on the part of the organizers to pay out the team, i don't see why teams should have to chase them, they're responsible for holding up their part of the contract. And as usual its been almost a month and nothing has been done since "she became aware of the situation" .. ::)
