the organization of the comeptition was great. something other comps should look at as an example as. live streaming of the comp was also a very good idea. however the teams lacked at their choreo and execution of their performances. when we look at bhangra idols we see it as being the face changer of bhangra and evolving bhangra to the next level(nj @ 2006), however nothing really set any of the teams apart from eachother. we saw the same stuff repeated over and over again. chikay, kundaye, jhummat, fast song, dhaamla. sgpd same performance from big apple and from jawani, not the same sgpd it was before lacked creativity, enegry and a smile on their face. jawani girls, expected much better, horrible song choice, and they never added their touch to their performance which always sets them apart, they became just like the other teams. panj, a huge disappointment, the stage presence was horrible, their was a huge mess infront of the stage, and their were enough mistakes that were made during the performance which clearly showed they were not going to place. kohinoor not fun to watch at all. others teams were medicore nothing too great besides doing the same stuff on different songs. this folk business keeping ur shyt folk in my opioin is really killing bhangra. teams are getting more more sloppy doing the same things, nothing is really setting anyone apart. every team should have their own say of what they want to show, their needs to be more personality in teams performances. huge disappointment from the teams. folk is good only first if u can master the foundation of it the folk bhangra STEPS, NOT THE FOLK BHANGRA DANCES. people just throw on a dhammal beat and start throwing their hands and legs in their without learning the basic foundations on what to do. That in a dhamaal moving ur shoulder and widening ur body is much more important than having a challenge in who can lift their legs the highest. if this stays up bhangra will die with its folkness for sure.
