This is poorly written, and I don't understand your point. Are Punjabis forgetting something? Are Punjabis forgotten? Are Sikhs forgotten? And why is it wrong to remember people who served in uniform? At one point you then make a link from Punjabis to Sikhs...why? There is a way to positively talk about the sacrifices and history of Sikh fighters/struggles, yet, you choose to offend those who serve valiantly in battle, with a positive purpose in mind. Instead of you talking about how you're being taught about white people, and how your taught to remember them, why don't you be an advocate for the minority voice? Try that instead of talking about something you speak very poorly about.
To be honest with you all folks. . . 84 has been forgotten by most of the Sikhs, especially those who lives outside of INDIA N' its a FACT!!! Sikhs have been through a lot N' we have no support of INDIAN Gov't what so ever or ever had their support!!! Those who have lost their loved ones during 84 can understand what really 84 means to those!!! We here can talk all we want but the point is this "Can we do something about 84?" NO!!!
I see people here in U.S. talk about "khalistan khalistan" but screaming N' yelling for "khalistan" here in foreign countries isn't going to solve or get anyone "khalistan". If these folks really want "khalistan" they need to go to INDIA and fight for it, which no one is willing to do so!!!

p.s. In INDIA, Sikhs N' Indian Gov't are the two opposite matters that can never be solved!!! N' as long as Sikhs are in India, they can never be treated fairly!!!

Rabb Rakha!!! :)

What does Khalistan have to do with the 1984 genocide?

Hey guys ur all right, and im not saying dont remember the vetrans, but in alot of school over here there only taught about english history.
im not against anyone, im saying remember all that fought for freedom the vetrans, greats like bhagat singh, and the locals from 1984. :'(

I only created this post to remind people to also remember those who lost there lives fighting for freedom in india ( not saying forget those who faught for other nations)

If you want to learn about Indian history you shoulc go to Khalsa School or go to school in India. Personally, I believe it would make no sense for a Canadian or American school to teach children about another countries history.
I agree with you that we will not be learning about 1984 or other shaheeds from our community but the fact is that even in history books in india they don't have anything about it. The government really wants people to forget about it. The fact that Bhagat Singh was mentioned as a terrorist in the history books in India and the actions of Udham Singh were condemned by the Indian Governemnt. Also the people involved in 1984 are still members of the congress party and still being elected as MLA's and ministers.

Exactly What i was trying to explain!, the people who should of have been sentenced a punishment are still in office and thats why there trying there best to forget about everything that happend so they wont have to face there punishments one day. this is exactly why we should take time out to remember those people who died so those people in office dont get out easy!

Im canadian, so in school, we were taught the canadians part in the world wars, yeah we learned about the sikh regiment and stuff and yeah that makes me quite proud, but still canadian history. Americans were taught about the american parts in the world wars, and all other wars theyve fought in (correct me if im wrong americans). Why in the hell would a school system be teaching their students about another SPECIFIC country's participation or as you say, "non english history". It wouldnt make sense. I think the message your trying to convey is remember not only those that fought for this countries but remember those that lost their lives in 84 and whatnot, but the way you said it made you seem extremely egocentric with no idea about what you were talking about. Bud, the reason your currently sitting in the country your sitting in, and you're typing on the computer you're on, and im going to assume your not white with blonde hair blue eyes or japanese, so the reason your even here is because those goreh that you were "brainwashed" into remembering on remembrance day (veterans day (US)), died for this shit. Im not one of those people that is overly patriotic and im not going to lie, im glad that remembrance day comes around because its a holiday, but respect should be given where its due
