Remix tips

When trying to remix songs (not mashing up with other popular songs) but actual remixing of the original song by adding synths/backbeats etc. How do you go about making them sound unique? And how do you create the backbeats for the tracks? Are they all done in FL Studio and then imported into acid/mixcraft or are they made in acid/mixcraft itself? Im trying to create custom backbeats, but Im not having much luck so far so if someone can help me out with a quick tutorial or point me in the right direction, it'll be great!!

I think what you're trying to do is produce ontop of the original song right? I'm not sure what your exactly asking but it sounds like you want to create a beat and then mix it into a song. If that's the case then you can really just do it all in FL you don't really need acid or mixcraft to match it

Making a beat and then exporting.... hmm seems like a recipe for a LONGG process of going back and forth editing the various sounds. I mix in FL and its easy that way to control the sound by EQ'ing the kick/snare/ whatever other cheynay chuunay u wanna put in and regulate their volumes independently. If you want to make a beat I'd suggest you do it in the same program you're editing in, much better workflow. (shortcut to loop a selection is CTRL+b )

@smp - yes! producing a beat on top of the original song is what i was getting at.
@GSingh - thanks for the shortcut info. i'll try it out in FL and see how it works out.
