Is it possible to single rope a double roped dhol? My dhol came double roped but im thinking to do single since it looks pretty cool

single rope I would only use for dhols that are roped on both sides or thili, double rope is better for dhols that have just bass roped as it gives it more pull, id only use single rope like mentioned above if I had a dhol roped on both sides or roped on thili for fine tuning. but just keep it double roped

(are you guys talking about single-roped or cross-roped) or (are you talking about how much thickness of dhol rope)?

It's most definitely possible since I've done it multiple times to different dhols, and I actually prefer it single-roped. I keep all my dhols single-roped, regardless of the set-up (nuts and bolts on one side, both sides, etc.).

As my team mate Richie stated, i prefer the sound of a single roped dhol over a double roped dhol. The amount of pull isn't going to be a factor if the dhaga head is put on correctly and tightly. The advantage of the double rope method is that its easier to have the tension evenly spaced all around the dhol, but if you correctly fit the head onto the dhol, as long as you line up the rings, this should not be a problem. The single roped stringing, looks better and cleaner as well.
