Hey Guys

This is our performance from ADZ 2014 where we placed first.Huge shoutout out to Neel and the entire committee for throwing an amazing comp and Renu and Hinnah for being the best liaisons we could ask for. It was easily one of the best organized competitions that we have attended. Not to be forgotten, a huge thank you to GSimz for making an absolute baller mix. Much love to you man. A very very big thank you to Sandeep for tying our paggs. They came out great. Ankush, thank you for all your help and support throughout this entire weekend and even before. A simple thank you to you both is not enough. Thank you Sahil, Harman, and Vick from Furteelay for coming out and helping us all get ready, especially the keyboard setup. You guys were a great help and we loved having you all there with us

Enjoy the video :)

Congrats on the well-deserved placing, guys! Don't think the video does justice to watching you guys live - mix was hot and energy was on point throughout the entire routine. ;) Ending acoustic didn't really hit with me, though.

Congrats once again!

One of the best RU sets to date. Great job Simrat and good work with execution everyone. Glad I could help in some way ;)
Gursimran, the mix is dirty man. I have two mixes on repeat. This and that other one you sent me ;)

Congrats again, guys! This was a great performance to watch live, for sure - the energy was amazing, and the nakhra of the pink/dark blue jodiyaan throughout the routine was hot 8) I absolutely loved Salera Rang and Dupatta, but the beat of the dhamaal gave me chills. Post your mix!

After watching this set, it's starting to remind me of old school RU. I really liked old school RU, a lot of newer dancers led by the vets in this performance showed a good balance of control and swag. The big things that I saw off from the routine were mostly just things like jumps, try not to get as much air, as weird as it sounds. Having more hang time isn't always the best thing, just make sure the beat is jumped to, and dancers aren't jumping to their own beat. Other than that this was a very good performance, I really hope to see y'all competing more, I want to see this set develop a bit more. Not only this, I do understand that a lot of the guys dance on AEG, and the style carries over a little, which I think is great because not as much has to be changed in terms of dancing presence. But in terms of set creation, it would be even better to see an all Rutgers set, which I think is possible with the talent of the team. I don't say this to knock on either team, I just think it will signify the identity for Rutgers more! Great set, really looking forward to seeing where it goes, kind of like Fever to WBBC for you all last year!

Good luck!

First of all, what the heck is wrong with competition admissions committees if you guys haven't been getting in?! The level of dancing displayed by Rutgers is amongst the best that I've seen this year. In fact, compared to some of the WBBC videos that I've seen, I would argue that your dancers/raw talent is right up there with the best. Song choices were amazing, and the whole set had an old school vibe to it. Vishal/Simrat jodi is unstoppable. That being said, there are very apparent AEG flashes in this routine, and I'm not sure if that's the direction I'd like to see Rutgers go. Also, I think the time where you guys are the least clean is when you do any type of jump move. Maybe it's the fact that some of your dancers just jump 2x as high?

My favorite part of the set was the Jigraa segment. I thought the energy was AMAZING and the choreo flowed together so well. My least favorite was the end by far - I think it completely kills the rampant amount of energy you've built up throughout the set. I know it's a classic set and the "live" aspect is cool, but it seemed to drag a bit for me.

Overall, this is one of the better co-ed teams in the country and you guys have a well-constructed and super entertaining set. I can't wait to see where you guys will go next year. Good luck!

My thoughts:
  • Glad you guys used katos, even though it was just for a few seconds to make an RU sign. Would have been cool to see you guys include an actual (full) kato segment in this.
  • Enjoyed the shikke segment, and especially the accompanying song for it. I haven't heard that Jazzy B track used in a mix in soo long, and it was nice to see you guys revive it.
  • Nakhra was so on point during the jhoomer segment! Blue jodi was great throughout, but especially here. Simrat absolutely killed it in the front.
  • I like the shoulder bump during the khunde segment
  • Faslan choreo around 4:55 is nice
  • Absolutely loved the ending.
Overall, I loved this performance. The style (song choice, segments, use of props, etc) definitely makes you guys stand out, especially compared to some other collegiate co-ed teams in the circuit. As mentioned above by Cherag and Psant, some of the AEG style certainly carries over, which I think borders on inevitable considering so many dancers are shared among the two teams. And as Cherag mentioned, I would love to see an all Rutgers set.

Mix is great! Definitely one of my favorites this season. Song selection is also somewhat unique. I LOVE the fact that you guys used that Sun Jindey Jazzy B song and Balkar Sidhu's Jawani Teri, which is a great choice for a co-ed jhoomer segment. Honestly can't remember the last time I heard a Balkar Sidhu song (especially a classic!) in a team mix. These two songs gave the mix a more traditional vibe, and suited your style very well.

Congrats on a well-deserved 1st place, really looking forward to seeing you guys next season.

Couldn't have said it better myself, love the song selection; it was def something out of the box and very creative! The ending was a nice cherry on the top, way to finish! Good stuff guys.

I'm a little late to see this but CONGRATS! I liked the set a lot; choreo was really good. I like your vardiyan too. If you keep working on all your dancers you're gonna have a kick ass year ahead. Shykka was a little too fast and you could see the girls struggling. I liked the songs. Biggest thing was the ending was very anticlimactic, the piano part... very cool but move it to the middle of your set or do it before the ending! Congrats again :D
