Does anybody know the best place to get saaps either in Houston, or someone who will ship to Houston for a relatively low cost?

Thanks!

What's up Anand?

Good to see Chowl Bhangra starting back up. What happened to your saaps from last year? Did Sukhdeep and Monique steal them all? :p

Anyway, regarding purchasing saaps..

If you're look for a large order of ssaps (for your entire team), hit up Lali (lalisehmi@gmail.com) from http://www.bhangraavenue.com/. Just tell him that I referred ya He's very knowledgeable of the bhangra scene in North America and is based in India. He has a large network of resources and has worked with a ton of teams in getting all sort of props, vardiya, etc. He'll hook you up with legit stuff for a very fair price.

If you want higher quality stuff (but also a bit more expensive), you can hit up Harkiran (http://bhangrateamsforum.com/discuss/profile/?u=72) who has also provided Bhangra accessories to many teams.

Other than that, if you know someone going to Punjab, that's gonna be your best option!

Hope that helps,

~ Basim :)

Yeah, we're trying to get it back going consistently. We were pretty active last fall, but hit another lull in the spring. Hopefully we can get it going strong consistently.

A decent number of our saaps have broken over the last few years through our own use or letting other people borrow them, so its definitely time to get a new set.

Also, do any of you know a good place to get outfits at a reasonable price? We don't have a ton of money, but we're definitely in the market for new outfits. Ours are fairly low quality at this point.

Haha, I feel the needing money. We're coming up with ways to get some more publicity and get our name out in Houston to get some money that way, and do some fundraising on campus as well. Any tips?

if you know anyone that can DJ, set up a dance party type thing with an optional $10 donation thing
or a bhangra workshop/workout class with an entrance fee or door donation amount

Setup a booth in a crowded place on campus during the lunch hours and sell plates full of "chowl" (mixed with chicken) + a soft drink for lunch ;) You can probably get the food made from any of the Desi restaurants in Houston for relatively cheap and get the soft drinks on sale in bulk.

I'm sure you guys can get permission from your campus, due you to you being part of an official organization and for fundraising purposes.

There are tons of other threads on fundraising, purchasing saaps/outfits/ & other accessories, getting gigs, etc. Try to search around a bit by typing keywords in the search bar from the main page.

Hope that helps,
