Well for starter's Bhangra isent a "thing" its the worlds best dance in my opinion which consists of continuous energy stamina and effort. If your new to the whole concept of bhangra start of by watching video's of teams such as tag and smd becasue there also all girls teams. Listen to punjabi mixes and music to get an idea of how "this bhangra thing works"

Ill attach two of my favortie all girl's teams as i said above.

Toronto Allstar Girls Bhangra @ Bulldog Bhangra 2011

Shaan Mutiyaaran Di @ Elite 8 Bhangra Invitational 2012

there are many other teams too but i just stated 2 of my favorites.

Start the beginning,

  • Who's a part of your team?
  • What age are you girls?
  • Is there any experience on the team?
  • What is your goal, short term and long term (compete, dance for fun, gigs)?
  • What's your exposure to the dance (have you ever seen bhangra before?).
  • Do you have any dance experience, bhangra or otherwise
Not sure what you expect from us. It's not as if we can just give you a blueprint. We have no idea who you are, what your situation is, and what your talent is. Ask us questions! There's lot's of help but it's up to you to ask the right questions. Browse the video section and get a sense of what teams are doing first, then search the forum. There are about 25 'new team' threads, and each one has good info. Do all that and we can start to help you. Till then we can't be much help

Think of sweet gimmicks

Judge will give you first if your gimmick was having the team walk off stage and give everyone Laddos and gulab jamans :p

But like SWI said, post question of what exactly you need help with.

First off, Good luck to you girls!! There are alot of bhangra affiliated people living around there, I'd recommend getting in touch with some of them. Ajit From 3D would be a good help. There isn't really a set way to start a new team from scratch. All I'd recommend is for you to watch some other all girls teams, like SMD. If no one on the team is very experienced, it would probably be a good idea to ask someone from a near by established team to help/coach you guys.

Hi Karen,

I suggest you try sending a PM (Private Message) to "SacTownBhangra916" instead. That user hasn't been active since June 1st, 2012, so the chances of them seeing your message is very slim. Although, if you send a private message, that user will get an e-mail to notify them that you're interested in joining the group.

You can send a PM by clicking on the the users name (which will take you to their profile). Then click on the "Send PM" button.

Hope that helps,

~ Basim :)
