Okay so I'm definetally not a complainer but...when people record videos for their teams and such can they try and set the camera away from them cheering or at least have a parent/relative/friend record the vids! Sometimes I can't even get through a video hearing WOOO YEAA!! Or I can't even hear the song...

not saying don't cheer...cheering makes your routine better ;D

does anyone else feel the same wayy ???

i think hiring gabroo tv to record a comp is amazing. comps that dont do that could keep a prime seat on a balcony or something for themselves and record for teams. <--competitions organizers can ponder that idea. But you cant keep ppl from cheerin. Its the atmosphere, and can make you feel like you were actually there sometimes. Unlike Sahara which has commercial breaks in between dances and constantly changes the angle which doesn't really show formations, or makes it fun to watch. Though you could really see some good facial expressions. But i dont blame boston for letting them show the comp on tv. i would too if i was them regardless of the quality of the broadcast. Yelling or not, I'm thankful to not have to travel and pay for a comp ticket to watch teams dance.

Cheering makes a lot of the videos hyper, and also lets you feel more like your at the competition then professionally done videos. I like to watch both, as one imparts the feeling of actually being in a seat outside of the stage and the other just lets you focus on more critical aspects(and hear the mix :D).

Both would be good, though I would prefer that competitions release old videos of routines in a form of "viral" marketing to promote there competition...not just keep it on a dvd

Cheering is also good in the sense you can see what parts in your own routine the audience really responds to and which parts fell flat.

When I hear the morons on a recording screaming so loud that the recording is pointless I wish that I could be there to tell them to STFU

I'm sure the teams would rather have people screaming every min during their routine rather than have a dead audience. My 2 cents.

im not saying people shouldn't scream...but put the camera somewhere away from the screaming...

in one of our last competitions, we put one of our cameras next to the soundbooth so 1) no one would steal the camera and 2) the entire routine would be recorded without any shakiness AND you can actually hear the music and watch the video afterwards on normal sound volume without busting your eardrums....

so like i said before give the camera to someone else....family, friend, relative, etc. if you KNOW your going to go crazy for your team (which you should ;D)

Our last comp was recorded with like 4 different cameras and all of them had yelling and screaming in them haha so we were SOL anyways, but we love the support of our few groupies HAHHAAH

I think a good rule of thumb is if you are the person recording, you should not be yelling, and also, if you could get the persons to your left and right to not scream, that would be wonderful. Cheering in the background is fine, but it's when the person recording starts screaming/talking and you can hear every decibel of it that gets hectic

All of this could be simplied with a little bit of post-recording editing. It doesn't take *THAT* much effort to blend a team's mix into the audio from the recording (or completely override the audio aka "dub the audio"). If you blend the dance mix in, you can still get the audience sounds/reactions if that is what is ultimately desired.

If the person that is recording is a somehow affiliated with a member of the dancing team, they have easy access to the dance mix. Therefore, they can either edit the audio themselves or give it to somehow who knows how to.

This solves both problems:

1) The person recording (and everyone in the audience) can scream/yell/cheer/blow their horns for their favorite teams as much as they want.

2) The people who view the video after some small editing can enjoy it as if they were hearing the mix from the speakers at the event.

My 2 cents,

~ Basim :)

He's not talking bout the whole audience to stop screaming...just the people who are making a vid to calm down so we can atleast hear the mix/boliyaans and enjoy the vid...other people in the audience can still scream

ive seen teams dubb the music over the cheering.. and let the cheering leak thru very slightly during parts that need it (ie. stunts)
if you watch the b2b idols video thats been done to it.. at the same time you can hear the music and the crowd reaction!
