Here is our video from last night. If you have other angles, feel free to post them.

Extremely proud of my boys for absolutely ripping the first SEPBC set. Creating and executing a dhol performance was a new experience for the vast majority of this squad, including myself, and I couldn't have asked for a better group of #SinghSoorme to go on this adventure with.

Thank you MCB for the opportunity. Thank you to the judges for your opinions-- we will take them into consideration as we move forward.

Finally, we are always welcoming people to join the growing SEPBC family. If you live in the DMV and want to give it a shot, email us sherepanjabbhangra@gmail.com.

Congrats on the teams first competition!

Just a quick critique (if you want more in depth i can PM you): Energy was dropping. Facial expression werent the greatest (from the first video i saw). Leg extensions were lacking.

The green jodi (that started out on the right) was the most entertaining and looked like he genuinely enjoying his time on the stage.

Very solid first effort into live bhangra. I'm not as well versed in live bhangra, but here are some critiques that may help out anyway:

-One of the biggest differences between live bhangra and dancing to a mix is that absolutely everyone needs to look the same when going live, both in style and energy. I noticed several spots where Vick does more than Ajit during the saap/khunde segment (guy gets excited when he's in the front haha), so absolute unity should be emphasized across the board in the future.

-I think doing 2 and a half minutes of just saap/khunde was a big mistake. It would have felt much more dynamic if you had done all saaps then all khunde, and the transition between the two segments could have been a great place to show more creativity. Your prop segment started out great, but after a minute I started to wonder where you were going with it, which is never something you want a judge to think.

-Form is decent, especially for a newer team, but it still needs lots of work. Dancing together a lot more should help improve everyone's style and synchronicity.

-Energy was inconsistent, and in the latter segments, you could see form drop as well. Going live is difficult, doing 9 minutes of straight bhangra is difficult, and it takes a while to elevate yourself to a level where you can handle all that without sacrificing form, so that's something I hope will improve in future comps.

-Great little touches here and there, I especially liked the choreo going into jugni, that was definitely eye catching. Doing stuff like that all over your routine could help greatly.

-I would think about playing around with the tempos of the routine, the range of tempos seemed to be very limited and there didn't seem to be any dynamic shifts in speed. Increasing the relative differences of tempos which you can dance at can help make the routine a lot more interesting.

Props to you guys for going live, it's the one thing I wasn't able to do in my dancing career. Hope the feedback helps for the future!

Congrats on SEPBC's first competition as a team. Look forward to seeing you guys improve.

Ty for the quick video. If you happen to get a higher quality video, please post it up in the original post! The current 240p video is painful to watch, lol.

This was so hot. Really happy to see another live team joining American circuit, especially repping NoVA. Shout out to my homies Ajit and Rajat for ripping it.

Great set and great dancers - and pretty impressive for a first performance. Looking forward to more from SEPBC!

just watched this, honestly expected it to be sloppy, but after watching i find it ridiculous that this didnt place....wtf!
the set plays like a mixtape, taking elements of sick live sets of the past 8 yrs and mashing them together into a cohesive performance. i liked the breadth of the saap khunda choreo, it is always the most intense part of a live set. kato segment was weak, kato pick ups were sloppy. jhoomer segment(s) were proper as fuck, i liked the break, its always exciting to see live teams throw 16 beats of fast choreo in the middle of two chill jhoomer segments. i know dbags stance on luddi but honestly i think luddi complements chaal/jugni too well to leave it out of a live set(also was some luddi, just not distinct segment). adding sammi or mirza(rewatched n realized there was mirza, it was just kinda short) would have also helped have a more dynamic pace, but honestly the pace n choreo of the set overall were exciting. phumaniyan to end was cute. i hope i get a chance to dance with this team.
