Did anyone else notice the crazy camera angles? Like there were shots from the floor and then from overhead. This was at a wedding reception! The video was a bit shaky though.

those camera angles made my life...realllly cool in my opinion...made the performance seem SO unreal

...but idk if anyone has the same opinion but i am really against people throwing money at me...so disrespectful to the money...

also, anyone else think that guy who jumped in during the performance was hilarious?

Yeah, I always had a problem with that too. Growing up, I was always taught that money should be treated with utmost respect. At a wedding I performed at over the summer, we had money thrown at us and I few times I stepped on/ripped some. I didn't like it.

man i dont know anyone that would think that getting money thrown at them is disrespectful toward the actual money. yea money symbolizes a lot in this country and age, but having physical pieces of tender is clearly not trying to disrespect anyone. anyone trying to do that is at the least trying to show appreciation for what you're doing (performing at this wedding reception)

hmm...not sure about you guys but the money thing is part of our culture...you've never seen that at weddings and things when people dance they take the money and circle it around your head a few times then "let it go"

There's no intention of disrespect it's just a custom.

great performance but i thought it was funny/stressful to hear "t-t-tokes of the marijuana smoke" so loud at 3:40 hahaha

hmm...i think i may have typed something else, and meant something else in my previous post...i guess im trying to say that i feel there are better ways to appreciate the dancers than to allow the money be on the floor during the performance...like, for example, you could do the whole money three times around the head thing...but then actually hand it to the performers once they're done...that way everyone wins! but of course, I'm not gonna get angry at the person who does what the people in this video do...

I like the closeness this video provided. You could really seem the expressions on all the dancers and distinguish moves a lot clearer. This was a good wedding performance in my opinion, since competition performances are a lot different.

P.S. - I'll take money anyday.. don't care which way it comes at me :p But I do see rajkaran's point of it getting in the way of the actual performance. As Pooja stated, no disrespect meant in any way, it's just a custom of ours.

LOLLLLL I don't think the disrespect is toward the money itself...in Punjabi culture our dignity matters way more than paper bro. I think the point is a good one of throwing money at people being disrespectful though...but to the people, not the money. I know it's a cultural norm now, but it's used as a way for people to show off and take the spotlight from the performer. It's belittling to have money being thrown at you and have drunk people coming into the middle of the formations of a choreographed dance. Our chimpta-walla is our security who escorts drunk people off the floor/stage when we dance, and when I play dhol I don't want people throwing money at me either. I could care less if they throw it in the air that I'm not under, but not at me...that's degrading. Have you seen the PAU video where the guy comes on stage and starts throwing money? It's just like that video; people were upset and got him off stage because he was getting in the way of the dance. It's an art, not a circus. Performance should be dealt with professionally in my opinion. People wanted to see SGPD, not some drunk idiots trying to get in their dance or throwing paper that they might slip on!

Money is good and necessary at times, but my personal honor is more important to me than that.
