Hey everyone!

Here is our performance from Windy City Bhangra. Any feedback is welcome.

Also, after the boli/sher, there is a delay for about 35 seconds (1.40-2.15) because somehow, the deejay failed play our mix from the beginning. After the boli and to avoid watching the uneasiness, please skip to 2.15 for the performance.

Enjoy! :)

This set was sick, I only wish I got to see it at a proper venue. Form, choreo, and mix were 100% on point.

Favorite performance of 2015 so far, really strong dancers, excellent execution, and fantastic routine that flows perfectly from beginning to end.

really dope. props segments were hot and nakhra was great as well. I thought there were a few moments in the set where the mix had some funky transitions that didn't gel as well with the choreo, but that's just me being picky. also, the boli was sick! congrats!

The flow of your set is one of your strengths as a team. Whether it was how well and quickly you transitioned from one segment to another or how you incorporated a stunt or gimmick, the flow of your set and choreography was one of your biggest strengths. Even though your choreo wasn't the most creative, I enjoyed the attention to detail & little nuances here and there (ie: switching shoulders for khundey, jugni...etc) and each segment still had hard hitting, impactful, memorable choreo.

You guys started very strong with a great saap segment. High energy, high legs, good extensions and some creative ideas. Overall, you guys were clean, but as the performance neared its end, precision and coordination did suffer a bit. Execution became a bit haphazard and moves weren't being completed as well as they were earlier in the routine. Plus, there was a noticeable difference when dancers danced in front and when they danced in the back in both nakhra and energy (ie: not lifting legs as high, less josh).

Your dancers have a lot of potential, but form for some of your dancers can definitely be improved. Make sure everyone keeps their chin up and keeps their head up tall (as oppose to sticking them out) - the better posture will not only make them look taller (as a shorter team) but also command better stage presence while dancing. Make sure everyone does modhey from shoulders as opposed to arms. Get your team's form and execution to the level of one of the dancers in the red and make it consistent throughout the routine whether dancing in front or back. Also, as a team, when you guys raise arms, it'll look better when you guys raise them straighter up and more to the side than in angled in front of you.

Song selection and some of the mixing ideas were good, but the mix, overall, felt a bit lacking. A lot of segments simply felt like they were vocals on top of a bass line and percussion (snares/hi-hats/kicks..etc). Instrumentals, wherever used, felt like they were added to add a sound effect rather subsist and enhance the vocals musically. Don't get me wrong - some parts like mirza and dhamaal worked well musically and complemented the performance well, but other parts, where the melody of the segment was minimized or lacking, the mix felt hollow and less engaging. (The jhoomar segment, in the contrast of the rest of the mix, felt more alive because it had a more pronounced melody). A better balance will go along way in making the mix feel more fuller and better enhance the performance.

Overall, I was quite impressed with the performance and am looking forward to seeing you guys compete more often.

Thanks for the critique dude! Glad to know that you enjoyed the performance. I should've acknowledged your response with a reply a lot earlier, but our captain and the team took your points into consideration once we read the post. All your points hit home, especially with regards to the maintaining a consistent level of execution throughout the set. I appreciate the time you put into providing a detailed critique and I promise that you'll see those improvements in the next few months :)
