real talk they should have professionals judging not just famous actors... my parents have seen a million live bhangra teams when they were in india that doesn't mean they can start judging a competition

It doesn't take professionals to see that they needed work and weren't up to par.


The only drama queens I saw were the team captains, who kept on giving bullshit excuses why their team didn't perform as well. You didn't make the round? Then thank the judges for their time and get off the stage instead of insinuating that the judges of were anti-Punjab, or unappreciative of Punjabi culture and then saying that your kids have a harder time on stage than everyone else.

they advertise this show like its based on "real indian talent", when really its just one big gimmick to make money and appeal to masses... nothing wrong with that but yea... and I still think the judges were bitches

so why the hell did they go on the show? Because it was a unique opportunity and a good chance to get experience and exposure. No one sat here and complained when APD didn't get through Live To Dance...we all were excited that they were on tv and congratulated them and understood that it just didnt' work out. Faizan's point about classical dance forms is spot on. The show is built for mass appeal and commercialization...how can anyone possibly complain about that?

It all started and ended with the singer, which is just crazy considering the talent surrounding the team. It's hard to sing live, no question, but without their A-game it's harder to justify given the thousands of other performers also doing their best in their respective talents...


Also, these shows are heavily heavily edited ( I learned that when i visited the set of DID2 and Danny will tell you that they had much more appreciative judges then LTD showed )

Swi, Faizan, Navkarn, and Sue are right. Appreciation of bhangra is one thing. Knowing your venue, audience, and JUDGING RUBRIC, and putting on a performance is another thing. They brought an uninspiring live set to a forum that is looking for neither mediocrity nor traditional bhangra.

faizan's spot on-- why isn't square dancing winning America's Best Dance Crew? More like LA's Best Dance Crew, "What fudu judges". Jeez, Sue's right about this ridiculous devotion to live bhangra where it doesn't belong. This team could perform at America's Best Dance Crew and when they lose, people on this forum would write it off, saying the judges "just don't appreciate *real* bhangra".


I completely appreciate traditional bhangra in music and live form, but you don't bring a ceremonial wooden knife to a gun fight.

but they are the professionals here. when you go to a competition you submit to the fact that the quality of your performance is going to be judged by another group of people, and if they say you suck, then in the context of that competition, you do suck.

I feel like I'm reading a pamphlet from Trolls-R-Us!!

A) It wasn't a bad performance, but it wasn't a good one. Sync could have been better, and overall I was bored. You have all of 15 seconds from the very first hit on the dhol to entertain and impress the judges. It just wasn't there.
B) I bet you the judges do see a lot of bhangra teams. Just because you don't know the other teams that have gone onto the show, or they aren't shown on tv, doesn't mean that other teams haven't. You people aren't that connected.
C) The context of the show just wasn't for them. Just because there is talent and they're pretty good at what they do (I've seen other their other performances) doesn't mean that they will appeal to the masses of people who watch/attend the show.
