I mean I've been to India plenty of times, and seen it I suppose, but I feel like it's kinda brushed off. So what do you guys think? As privileged descendants of India/Pakistan/and the likes, is it our responsibility to at least try to make the situation better in the motherland? Obviously attempts have to have already been made at bettering the situation, and it's not like something miraculous is going to happen over night, but do you even think it's our responsibility or is it a matter for the respective nation's government/people?
i completely agree with you. i was thinkin the exact same thing after i saw it... i was feeling so bad for how the children are treated and have to liveee.. and with so much corruption, a change in the treatment of children (for example) would take so much time... but i definitely think the movie was a real eye-opener for people unfamiliar with the situation in India... if enough people take action, hopefully something good could come of it in the future.

Yes. Let us make a change. The root of the problem is POVERTY. The large gap between the rich and poor gives way to prostitution, crime, violence and abuse. So, let's do something about it and take away POVERTY, coz it's so easy to do. Even you said that it's not going to happen over night, but honestly and brutally honest, it's not going to happen in our life times no matter WHAT you do.

Being aware of the situation is one thing as both of you guys said. Feeling and understanding the plight of these slumdogs requires skill and I believe we should all strive to understand the hardships and sufferings of their lives. We can make a difference in a few people's lives, but we cannot do it for most no matter how much of a responsibility it may be.

this movie is officially one of the best movies ever made... this has the most original storyline and its a Hollywood film for foreigners, nothing can come close to this movie!!! a real eye-opener for foreigners who think india is all fun and games and tourism (although the part when the kids jack shoes from the taj mahal and car parts from those tourisits was pretty funny)
