Hey guys here is our performance from Bruin Bhangra this past weekend! We had a blast as always at Bruin and we were blown away by all the performances. Congrats to all the teams for bringing their A++++ game!

FYI since you can't tell in either video, but the dholis went into the audience and played in the aisles for the rest of jhummar.

We'd love any constructive feedback since we want to continue to build on this for future competitions!

Really like changes in the mix+choreo since E8, as I guess others have already said. Particularly liked that you did a lot more with the light-up kameez, but I still think more can be done with that and with the ending.

When I sit down to watch SMD performances, I've come to expect a certain level of cleanliness. You girls got recognition and trophies comps back primarily because of that level of coordination. With the new style and the newer dancers, I feel that you girls have lost that advantage and I feel it may take a while to regain it due to the increased amount of risks and difficulty of your recent sets. Some great ideas throughout the routine and the choreography was definitely solid. Formations for a 16 woman set could have been more creative. The light gimmick is sick but the person who came in was completely unnecessarily and ruined the entire gimmick in my opinion, drawing focus to them rather than the sick timings of the light-up gimmicks. The dholi gimmick was also sick, but they drew too much attention for too long rather than being woven into the routine complementing dancer choreography. And I also felt that the ending was too abrupt - I guess we're use to expect at least another 8 beat in that chorus. Overall, good ideas and good choreography. Dancers, at times, however, seemed overwhelmed by the dancing or lethargic at points (especially near the end). I know that you girls have a lot of new dancers and the style is much more difficult than previous, but had the cleanliness been consistent with past SMD performances, this would have been placing set in my books.

One of the best "dancing" SMD sets to date without a doubt. You girls have really improved on your dancing and it shows. However the biggest thing lacking is the energy. There are so many parts in this set where you guys added extra stuff into a certain segment and it only took away from the next one. For example dhamaal segment was too long for no reason and I felt like it took away from the ending energy for the girls.

Like kinnell said, SMD was known for their cleanliness and you guys have deff gone away from that. Another thing I use to enjoy was how well some of the jordis danced together. You guys need to go back to that same strategy and make sure your dancers keep up with each other and your jordis compliment each other. None the less keep up the good work ladies ;)

P.S. Red jordi murked =)

we had an unreal amount of malfunctions that had arisen the day before the comp. Lights burnt out and/or wouldnt turn on (i think only half of the girls' worked). for some reason, the way we programmed the light settings, worked from some and not for others at the last minute. (ex. instead of being a steady light some would skip that setting and turn on to the flickering). Tried our best to fix these things, but couldn't do much about it at that point. Because of all this, much of the effect had been lost :-\

Every team brought their A-Game to bruin, thus making this competition so much fun to watch. I remember being disappointed that the show was overr after the last team went up. every performance left me wanting to see more. And let me just say that ABC's fake out got me really good. I was half way out the door thinking it was over before the music came on again haha. Overall, great competition to be performing at with that crowd. Time flew by for me on stage with their energy - I felt like 8 minutes was only 3. Congrats to Empire, AEG, ABC and DRP!

Also...AMF's are crazy.
