Anybody know of good practice speakers? Looking for something much louder than saaps and portable. If they're loud enough to use for house parties that would be awesome too

In general your practice speakers will need to be 2.1 with a decent bass (do not go 5.1 or 7.1). JBL and Logitech tend to have decent options in the $100 price range (corsair sells some game speakers that are good and often on sale since their not a speaker brand). Anything less than $50 is likely to not fill your needs down the line. Speakers are a good investment, spend a little more cash and get the use out of it.

that's awesome! must have been a paint to carry though, did you make the freshman slog it around? That's what freshmen are for.

That and campus credit for gatorade and snacks.

A pair of Logitech Z2300s or Z623s always did the trick for us. Spent less than $100 each and each lasted about two-three years.

if you're after sheer loudness at the $100 range, I'd recommend the Numark NPC100 loudspeaker or the logitech z2300 2.1 computer speaker system.

both are $100 each and are reviewed as the best speakers in the $100 price range. Personally, I own a few sets of each and they kick ass for bbqs, sessions or even small 20-30ppl house jams, making it perfect for team practices in small to medium sized rooms. They are both easy to carry around, setup, and with the numarks especially, because they are designed for the road and have a built in limiter, you're able to crank them for 6-8 hours+ at full volume no problem.

If you're looking for something more high end to fill up a bigger room with sound and you're willing to dish out some extra money for it, which I personally recommend, hit up a guitar center or a professional dj equipment store and get yourself a POWERED loud speaker (12inch, 15inch or even dual drivers). A single speaker would cost you anywhere from $300-2500 per speaker but 1 speaker alone would decimate (in loudness, durability and efficiency) any home made hifi system you can come up with in the same price range. Powered speakers come with built in amplifiers and outputs so all you need is a 120v outlet and the correct wire to hook it up your mixer/ipod/laptop etc and you're good to go.

Just like Psant and Harman said above, go for the Logitech Z623 or Z2300. They're both pretty portable with crazy sound. I just bought the Z623 a few hours ago and all I gotta say is that it's a steal for the price. Best bang for your buck imo.

Gotta agree with what these other guys.. for your purposes go with the Logitech Z-2300, been recommending the system on BTF since 2009 I've previously owned it and it's solid.

Logitech is great company and for the price, their systems are hard to beat. I personally haven't heard the Z623 that is also recommended by others here, but I did come across a very detailed comparison to the Z-2300 here.

Update: Just got these speakers, and they are amazing. Would definitely recommend them.


Only downside is the sub is kind of heavy if you're going to be transporting them to practices a lot.
