The NHL wanted their games on national tv and all they could get was NBC. NBC didnt want the stanley cup to interfere with their "awesome" lineup so they have they playing back to back games for the first time in over 50 years.

screw tv networks and most of the US for not appreciating ice hockey. Its not as popular as Basketball, baseball and football. BUT, we got NBC, its STILL on national TV, the NHL did it for the fans. Would you rather it be on VS. or some small network that half of us can't even view? Its gonna be an intense series and players are gonna be pushed to the limit playing so many games in such a short amount of time. 4 more hours and its game tiem baby. GO PENS.

Wow what an absolute nightmare of a game for Wings fans. I just can't believe how badly we played (especially the defensemen...Stuart basically assisted on both Talbot's goals!) on home ice in a game 7. Its one thing to be loose coming in because you've been there before and know what to expect....but its another thing if that turns into lack of intensity, giveaways, egregious mistakes...just not sharp at all......... But then the switch comes on in the 3rd...finally get the first goal....Kronwall hits the crossbar inside of 3 minutes....then Fleury makes an unbelievable save on Lidstrom in the waning seconds....but in the end, we didn't deserve it....congrats to Pittsburgh, they definitely earned it winning the last two games of the series. What a disappointment for Detroit. ....Oh and one last thing....Marian Hossa, as well as he played in the regular season....he deserves the embarrassment that he has and will incur from here on out....wasn't even one of our top ten valuable players in the playoffs and completely disappeared from the series against the Pens. I still hope he resigns but he needs to step it up next year big time.

Typical traits of a bandwagon fan... Unless you can somehow explain how you are affiliated with every city... I'm not saying that you have to be from the city that you cheer for, but your selection of teams is pretty unique...

Penguins-i'll give you, jus got into hockey about two years ago, didnt know much about it, jus heard the name crosby over and over again, saw what i liked about the game and homeboys skills, and got hooked.

Barca-started following them around 2005, especially cuz i hate Real Madrid.

UNC-watched a lot of espn classic games, lots of jordan games. got hooked.

Lakers-a season before the Jordan REIGN came to an end, older cuz gave me my first bball jersey, it was a lakers jersey, i looked up to him, if he was a fan, i was a fan.

Cowboys-same thing, cuz was a cowboys fan, i looked up to him, and i was hooked

Red Sox-started watching baseball my freshman year in hs. Playoff game, first playoffs ive watched after watching the second half of a baseball season. game 7 in the playoffs, sox are up 5-2, lost the game with a walk-off homerun by aaron boone. i wanted to cry.

NASCAR-all my whiteboy friends were Dale Earnhardt Sr. fans, i picked the only other obvious choice.

ive told you mah reasons vick, u may still have something to say, so be it. ive heard it all.

ahh wow. This years playoffs were far far better than last years in both conferences, and the finals. Sure im a pens fan, but as a hockey fan, no team had the upper hand in the series. It was amazing for fans to watch from the drop of game 1 back in round 1, to fleury's sprawling save with a second left in game 7 of the final.

Wow. Just wow. After game 2 i was like shit. Not again. Then the pens won game 3 and 4 in dominating fashion and I knew it was goin to 7. Sure Crosby and Malkin were shut down effectively, but not enough. Not like last year. The supporting cast was different. This one had more grit. Better possession along the walls. The blue print to beating the wings. (Ducks are a prime example). I couldn't count how many times the pens didn't clear the zone when they had the chance and the wings never capitalized. This wasn't the same wings team we all are accustomed to seeing. 3 players on the wings held their own in osgood, zetterberg, and Lidstrom. Though lidstrom made some mistakes, so did everyone else. Datsyuk did his job, but had he been healthy, who knows. Clearly Detroit was the more skilled team, the deeper team, the more experienced team, the calm/cool team, the know how to win cups team. None of that mattered friday night. The pens were not to be denied. At least Max Talbot wasn't. He was a hero against philly in round 1 to win game 6, and he was the co-hero with fleury to win game 7 in the final. Both of his goals were spectacular on his part cause he isn't known for that kind of skill, but do put some blame on ozzy bein out of position. The Pens gave it all they could to hold on and bring the cup back to pittsburgh. Amazing series and story for hockey fans everywhere.

The main headline could be crosby/malkin winning their first, but i give it to Marian Hossa. Damn. He left 49 million on the table to win a cup. Financial security, long term security, for a cup. When was the last time you saw that in the sports world with such a big name player? People always say, well you could break your leg tomorrow and be done forever. No my friends, its about the cup. More power to the man that defined passion for the game a year ago. Too bad he fell one game short of what he set out to do. One game short to the team he left 49 million dollars of financial and long term security hangin. He might still be sitting in front of his locker thinking about that decision he made. The worst part is, he didn't help the cause much in the playoffs let alone the final. If he was wearing green instead of red we still probably wouldn't of realized he was there. Sure he had takeaways, back checks, shots, but nothing to show for it. Lets now wait and see where he decides to play next year. Money? one year deal for a cup again? Who'll be willing to gamble on his 'curse'? Let the Marian Hossa sweepstakes begin.

The pens have had plenty of comparisons to the oilers of the 80's. I hope they live to that. I hope they make a dynasty out of this amazing young core that they have. This cup win might have opened up a serious can of worms on the NHL. If Crosby and Malkin are this good at 21 and 22, wait till they're 27 and 28. Kinda around Zetterberg and Datsyuks age. Skys the limit. Through 7 years of horrendous hockey, almost moving out of the city, to this? ;D ;D ;D

Sidney Crosby may have gotten hurt and couldn't play the later half of game 7, but his performance through the playoffs and against the Wings is deserving of much applause. I hate it when ppl bitch and complain about how crosby talks to much, dives, complains to the refs, etc. He just took his team to the cup and won. There is always a camera on him is why u see him doin it. Brooks Orpik talks to the refs more than Crosby. All players in this game dive, or fake a high stick or whatever. Crosby may not have the god given ability of Malkin or Ovechkin, but he works 100 times harder than them and that is why he is the best player in the world and the face of the NHL.

The Steelers won the superbowl, the pens won the cup, both in the same year. Vick, you may think Pittsburgh is a shitty city, but you can't deny that it is a city of champions.

I don't like to boast, trash talk, start shit, etc. But as i said when the steelers won the superbowl, for all those who didn't pick the pens to advance in the previous rounds, and to those who predicted the pens to lose to the wings, just remember: WE ARE THE CHAMPS!!!

Marc Andre and Talbot. WOW what a show they put on. Great game 7.........and one more thing.................Marian Hossa can suck it!! I could understand if he was on a team with no chance of going deep into the playoffs, but he was on a young pens team who made it to the finals and lost to a more experienced detroit team. Now, being a talented world-class player, wouldnt it have been more logical to just stay with pittsburgh after gaining such experience? I mean you're surrounded by amazing players like Crosby and Malkin. So I don't call that passion, ditching $49 mil and going for the cup. I call that a sell out. He ditched a team that he almost made it all the way with because he didn't have faith that he could win a cup with them. Pitts knew they could make it there, it was a question of learning from the previous year's experience and using it to their advantage. $49 mil, financial security and a long term deal was just icing on the cake. Hossa thought it was a done deal, winning the stanley cup, joining detroit with such a stacked likeup. Almost like being on the damn yankees. All I gotta say it JALLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSEEEEEEEE

Pittsburgh is a rock solid team and I don't have anything against them. While Pittsburgh was hitting on all cylinders, Detroit came into the series limping with a plethora of injuries and they still took the series to 7 games... Bottom line is Pitt won, but if Detroit were 90% healthy, this wouldn't have been much of a series... Playing in the western conference is 10x more brutal than playing in the east where "defense" is a foreign concept... It showed in this series, Detroit couldn't consistently keep it together in long spurts probably because of fatigue. In a wide open east, it's not nearly as physical and players have a lot more gas left in the tank towards the end of the season... Just some things to think about...

haha it must suck to be Hossa. Going from the pens to the red wings. and still doesn't have a cup win. serves him right, you don't back down on a team if they almost make it.
