Steel City Bhangra - Warrior Bhangra 2011

These are videos of our performances from Bayside and Warrior the last two weekends. Of course, any constructive criticism is greatly appreciated.
I think Harman was on point in his full review of Warrior http://bhangrateamsforum.com/discuss/main-bhangra-discussion/warrior-bhangra-competition-review!
and we had similarly good feelings about Bayside (Florida weather is siiiick!), but Harman probably doesn't remember enough of the weekend to write out a full review for that one...

It was really a great honor for us to get to dance on the same stage as all the teams that performed at both competitions, and we all really look forward to seeing all of you again.

Again, please comment on our videos and let us know what you think. It's unbelievably helpful.

Its honestly hard these days to find a completely unique or mostly unique routine. THAT my friends was unique. That my friends was creative. Every minute and every change of song had something new and fresh; you guys killed it (watched the bayside video). It was clean, energy till the end and dancers looked like they were having fun. Congrats on a great routine guys. :D

I will post some criticism later but I'm class now

watched the live stream of warrior bhangra comp, havent watched the bayside video but 1 of the things that really stuck out was the sher before the performance(at warrior). i'm gonna be honest, it was painful to listen to, either practice speakin punjabi or get someone who speaks it really well to do the shers.

SCB! Killin it in both vids, will write a more detailed review of both videos later, but for now all I can say is that you guys have put in a tremendous amount of effort into the set and it definitely shows. Major props to Ram, Sid and Neha for all the hardwork and commitment you put into the team over the last 3/4 years. Proud of all of you and so happy to see all the strides SCB has made this year :)

wow...crazy dynamic formations, really hype, definitely unexpected how good this was...if you guys get all your dancers on the same level in terms of form and execution, you guys can def be one of the top coed teams

Lovee it. Very unique.

I love how in the Bayside Video, the camera man zoomed on the black girl, showing diversity. You guys are the third team that I know has a black person on their team (Hope no one's offended :) )

Keep up the good work

Thanks for that! We try to promote the idea that everyone can dance, and strive hard to make sure that has happened.

That's me actually. No offense taken (the camera man was my dad so I think he was just trying to figure out where I was). He got other teams in the first half as well so people should expect PMs from me over the next two days. Anyway, I've been on the team for three years (and a raas team the year before that). Pitt teams, in particular SCB have always been diverse, with last year being the peak.

Thank you for being, in my opinion, unique. You guys do need to simplify choreography/effects if your dancers cannot execute them crisply, but like ahmad and many others after him mentioned, mad Sylvester points® for doing your own thang and doing it well. (Congrats on Warrior - well-deserved!) I do think you need to upgrade to the more recent style of upgrade (aka the "Romesh" fad), they do look much better on stage. (Especially since you have a lot of shorter dancers, so the longer vests look even longer). Your dual-jodi colors seem too similar to CMU Bhangra's vardi (which is amusing since both teams rep the Black&Yellow). But overall, your selling point is that your choreography/formations/x-factors are very much original/unique and you guys definitely took some risks with tricks/ideas that were well-thought out and thus, well-executed. If you keep on investing in your dancers, I will put money on SCD doing some serious major damage in the collegiate bhangra arena.

(Sorry, Harman, if you didn't want me to publicly critique your team, but I simply had to throw that out there!

Thank you very much for the kind words about our team! Unfortunately, my dad's camera ran out of memory after Virsa: OT. He got pictures of you guys though. Sorry. :(
