For those that have followed him on CNN, it appears that the Obama administration has approached him regarding the position...he is well qualified...that would be nice..and would be a fair representation for many of the healthcare professionals of South Asian descent. He hasn't decided...but we'll seee.

ha, just read an article in the Times about it.

I think he perhaps might be too commercial/celebrity like. But, he's a neuro-surgeon so yea... If he can do the job then great!

What do Surgeon General's have to do necessarily...maybe that's a dumb question...but I guess they propose health regulations and the like? IE: contraceptives in schools, no smoking areas? Not sure...

Nice to have some Diversity in the White House.

I love Sanjay Gupta he's amazing. But, I do agree with him being just a little to much of a celebrity and Obama perhaps choosing him because of his status not credentials (WHICH are amazing!)

But, with the looks of it it may not happen which makes me super sad because I'd love to see the first Indian in that seat. Considering the ratios its about damn time!
