First time I've ever heard of Gsimz losing in a "Best Mix" competition.
Yale's mix must have been phenomenal.

T-Dot is definitely one of the best comps we've been to. We were spoiled by our liaisons (shout out to Tahsin and Anoshinie) from the moment we got there to the moment we left. Everything ran smoothly and the committee was on top of their game. The show ended around 8:30, which was a nice surprise when getting back to the hotel to get ready for the after party. Shout out to Superwoman as well for being a great host!

One thing I would say for next year is to start things a little earlier Saturday morning. I believe tech time started around 11 or 12, which is definitely great for sleeping in, but I know for sure that some teams (including Furteelay) were rushed when getting ready. We didn't get back from tech time until around 3:30/4, and as soon as we stepped into our dressing room we had to start getting ready. I wouldn't mind sacrificing a little sleep for a little slower-paced morning/afternoon.

Thanks for the feedback! We will definitely take this into consideration for next year! We had a great time hosting Furteelay! Congrats again and thanks for the shout out =)

Amazing competition, definitely the best we've been to! Our liaisons were amazing, the committee was great, and the overall experience was very enjoyable. The placings were also spot on, in my opinion. Judges feedback before and after the competition was extremely helpful.

But I do agree with Sunny about starting things a bit earlier on Saturday morning. We also felt very rushed when we were getting ready. A few of our pughs were not tied properly either, due to the time restraint. We were legit pinning chadray, and fixing pughan when we were on side stage about to perform lol!

Thank you to Lilly, and the whole T Dot Bhangra committee for organizing one hell of a competition, and for being the only annual Bhangra Competition in Toronto. Can't wait till the next one!

Some of my thoughts about T Dot:

1) The committee asked about our thoughts about judging to build their judging panel - that's innovative and shows how much the committee values the teams.

2) Mixer food was great, casino games were fun, and it was very chill.

3) The audience was CLOSE to the stage - led to a lot of interaction with audience members which is always fun. BIG stage allowed for formations to look great. Stage was definitely slippery, saw people slipping from a lot of the performances, and I slipped a few times myself.

4) The breakfast on Sunday morning was an awesome idea - all teams got recognition for what they did best and I felt that it was a great way to sum up the weekend and send teams home with high spirits.

5) Gifts - the gift basket was filled with stuff - dog tags, t shirts, vaseline for smiling, ankle braces, snacks. At the breakfast there were mad giveaways - t shirts, medals, and personalized Banners with team names/logos amidst a Toronto skyline design - it was dope.

6) Judging - the judges were quite insightful, and knew the nitty gritty details of everyone's sets it seemed. In recent competitions, I have seen judges know nothing about our own set, and say that they've watched too many teams that day to remember any details. Judges at T Dot literally said which formations they liked, which moves they liked, which specific moves seemed off, and even referenced other teams' performances, indicating their ability to ACTUALLY remember what you did on stage and have reasoning for their decisions. The judges were a fresh change of pace from what I have experienced at recent competitions.

The T Dot committee put up a wonderful competition, and it seemed that it was truly made for the teams. Things to improve on: have a less slippery stage, bigger venue (which I think they intend to do), and earlier run thru times to allow more time for getting prepared for the show.

Bravo T Dot! =)

Thanks for all the wonderful feedback! It is really helpful! I'm really glad you are all mentioning the issue with the earlier rehearsals! I personally thought teams would not like that but I'm glad it's been mentioned! We will definitely change this for next year.

Also yes, a bigger venue is definitely in order =)

Keep it coming!

agreed, one more thing to add to that is, it would be helpful if there was a speaker on stage because there was a couple times where i had to stop playing or play lightly just to make sure i was on beat because it was difficult to hear the music other then that competition was amazing:)

Best competition i've been to in a long time! I hope it gets bigger every year. The liaisons (shout-out to Navisha and Tobin) were extremely helpful and such awesome people. Absolutely well run and it was a pleasure to dance at T-Dot!

T- Dot seems to have been a much bigger competition this year, and it'll probably just continue growing as the years go on.
I suggest, if possible, for next year the T- Dot committee try to contact GTV and see if he is available at this time.
Basing off the bhangra seasons the past 2 years, the only competition GTV goes to annually is Idols in October.
Having GTV there will also increase the caliber of teams that apply as well, so it becomes win-win for everyone.

As returning performers at TDOT Bhangra, I can confidently say that the committee has done a superb job at maintaining their reputation from last year. Our team felt very comfortable and relaxed during the entire weekend. Everything ran on time and was very organized(Probably the most organized competition I have ever attended). Lilly did a great job picking her staff, everyone was on the same page and everyone had the same goal that weekend and that was to make sure all teams and guests were accommodated and taken care of.

Hotel Check in- Our liaisons were right there greeting us when we checked into our hotel. TDOT committee checked in our team and provided us with our wristbands for the weekend, discussed all admin details, gave us so many goods/gifts(Thank you Chase/Sharon), and really did a great job at welcoming us.

Mixer- TDOT has the best mixer, they covered all the admin details briefly followed by a great dinner and games.

Show- The show was sold out this year, much better turn out than last year. Everything ran on time and the overall flow of the show was good and very entertaining. One thing I can recommend is cleaning the stage after each performance. I know teams already did mention about the slippery conditions on the stage. I’m certain this will not be an issue in the future.

Each team had a large area to get ready and practice before tech time and before the show. The judges provided great feedback with pros and cons and did a very good job at answering questions. Again great job with picking the judges Lilly.

Concluding the TDOT weekend was a team breakfast at York University. At breakfast Lilly presented individual awards and thanked everyone for a successful show. It was a great way to end the weekend and say good bye.

I highly recommend every team to apply to this competition because TDOT Bhangra really focuses on the Bhangra community and is doing a great job at promoting our culture. I think they are setting a great example for other Bhangra competitions.

I think its awesome the fact that young kids are real into bhangra its awesome but a competition of this calliber I just think there should be a age limit for performers, I might get ridiculed for speaking my mind here but it's not really too entertaining watching 11 year olds dance no matter how good they are, solid competition though I just expected more

the girl that won best female dancer was apparently only 12 years old.

Obviously I disagree...bu just out of curiosity, would you still have the same opinion of the show if we hadn't told you there were young kids? Would you have even noticed?

+1 During DCMPAA's actual performance, I couldn't tell at all that there were dancers that young on stage. It wasn't until I was told and I was standing right next to an 11 year old kid in a bhangra costume at the awards ceremony that I noticed haha and that really goes to show how talented and hard working they are :)
