...I don't think you got the point of the gimmick

soorma23 is right they had made a lighting error and had turned off the lights when they weren't supposed to for about a nice 50 sec basically our whole second shika segment, (that was not a 50 sec gimmick), the committee has acknowledged the mistake they made.

Just wanted to say congrats to all of NTP for throwing an awesome competition. Mad respect to all you guys, (especially to our very own Aminder) for being both great hosts and great organizers!
You all really made us feel welcome over there in the T Dot.

This is definitely a competition to look out for in coming years!

hahaha sgpd's wedding gigs are pretty good too man ;)

JK but in all seriousness, yes, serious competition comin from JW and NYPD. BUT, every year, teams take it up one level from the previous year. JW and NYPD are doing that, and Im sure SGPD will in their next comp as well (Big Apple right?) In any case, Toronto is HEATING UP as always - SGPD, en garde!!!

All in all, competition weekend was mad fun.
Liaisons took perfect care of us and the competition actually started on time!
The committee even provided a paag tier for us, which allowed us to get ready even faster. Along with that, everyone was really friendly and it was simply a nice atmosphere for a competition.

The whole NJW & NYPD debate can go on forever, but if you watch NYPD's performance, along with the crowd reaction and being the last set, anyone would be amazed. I don't know when they will post a video, but their execution and energy surpassed NJW's for this competition.

No disrespect to NJW, but the way NYPD presented themselves at the competition was phenomenal and they got robbed of first place.
When the video comes out, the debate will be over.

I disagree with you smhetha...while nypd's set was way better than njw's...cleanliness wins the game, and nypd was messy as hell...that's why they placed second. The judges were probably dying to give nypd first, but their mistakes and lack of cleanliness lost it for them...judging rubrics are shaped around cleanliness, presentation and synchronization, not around the best ideas or the coolest gimmicks. over the years 1 thing about bhangra has never changed, a clean "B+" set will always beat a messy "A" set...had nypd been even 15% cleaner, they would have smoked Tdot's entire lineup...that being said, nypd's set has set the bar for the 2011-2012 season, and teams better step it up if they want to beat them...I am sure nypd is kicking themselves for their mistakes and will focus much more on cleanliness because their set is amazing which is why nypd is gonna come to boston with a vengence this year, the teams in boston's lineup better be ready for a massacre...

Just to clarify, based on the rubric we didn't lose for a lack cleanliness, the main issue was a debate over our gimmick. When the video comes out we can go a bit more in-depth about this discussion until than wait for boston folks!

NJW had a shit load of mess ups, people jumping to the next move to soon and so on. watching both performances you can tell how much work and practice NYPD put into there dance.

as far as i know some judges did have NYPD as first....

If you have been on a team and know what it feels like to be docked for stupid shit that has become a norm in the circute or out of your control then alot of the placings in the circute start to makes sense. not agreed with but makes sense.

I have to kindly disagree (kindly disagreeing is a new concept for me-but I'm going to work it out).

I think I'm really beyond the point that a team "got robbed." If judges choose not to give Team X first at a competition, for whatever reason, that team didn't get robbed. That is the judges opinion, and they will determine who will get the trophy and the prize. They are elders, and have experience (9 times out of 10)-and their opinions should be respected. NYPD did not have the trophy in hands, and the judges took the trophy and placed it into NJW's. That didn't happen. The only people officially determining the placings for each competition is the judges. No one gets robbed. We're all entitled to our own opinion regarding placings, but "Team X got robbed" is overstepping our boundaries.

Likewise, our fellow dancers should be respected. We need to stop the beef, the issues, the drama, the "this team got robbed", or the classic "we should have gotten first!"-it's all disrespect and it's unnecessary, and all a COMPLETE waste of energy. We gain nothing out of this.

We're all coming from the same place-a group of people who love dancing, and love the feeling they get when they're on stage and performing for a crowd. As a community, let's not waste anymore energy thinking too much into placings and taking the competitive aspect of what we all enjoy TOOO FAR.

Enough is enough.

There's millions of people in the world who are in worse positions than we are. We all should be lucky to have whatever we have... whether placing first or last. Even within our circuit, there's plenty of teams who could only dream of performing in Toronto but are not able to (whether financial or they just don't have "it" yet-but hopefully they will soon).

I think we should all be humble and thankful, and cut the bullshit. Let's enjoy ourselves-THAT is something we all deserve.

NYPD, I've had the pleasure of running into you guys a few times in the past few years. I hate to tell you-but you didn't get robbed. But I don't think you should let that get you down. You did a fantastic job, and should keep doing what you're doing. Keep working hard, and you'll get the placings you want. I think, for now, you should enjoy the moment. You guys seem to be taking it gracefully-so I respect you in that regard. If you guys do come to Boston, I look forward to seeing you guys there (after missing you last year).

I think you guys are all tripping out man, whatever happened happened.. its all for fun and we got what we came for so we're pleased and greatful for the opportunity. Our main objective was to give our fans (however many there, new and old) a great show and a good time.. we worked so hard for just that 1 objective and by the comments and appreciation we received from those same people, we are thoroughly satisfied and couldn't ask for more. We know why we placed 2nd so we're going to improve on that advice and put on a better performance for everyone next time!

And let it be clear that we don't mind the comments at all I just don't want people to have the misconception that NYPD is complaining because if you read through the threads we ain't saying shit other then clarifying certain things here and there. And It's not like we're getting worse.. at the rate that we are improving by next year we hope to be one of the best music teams in NA.. and with our positive attitude we will do it.. no matter what the obstacles we'll always pull through. We are a young team still so greats things are ahead!

And as for other people saying that we got robbed.. everyone's entitled to their own opinion so let it be! you can't argue against someones opinion because if they feel that way then they feel that way. Some people like our set and some people won't.. some people going to like NJ's set and some people won't.. it applies for everything.

NJ came first, NYPD came second and DCMPAA placed third.. and thats a wrap.

Sorry Harman, I was talking more in-general.

I think this is a great attitude to have, and I think at this rate NYPD will be one of the best teams in NA.

thanks for the comment!

umm well we're deciding for now, we wanted to travel to a different city since we already went to boston but its possible.. boston is still my favourite competition, everything from the stage to the hotels to the city itself is just 1 huge party and a good time.. and we can't leave out the after party at the mall lmao thats too sick

but yeah if we decide to go hook us up with that you know ;) trees
