Whoa. Ex-Raas/Garba Dancers can be legit judges provided they've done bhangra before and are passionate about bhangra as well. But I know what you mean, Bhangraholic. When I competed at Dandia Dhamaka, it pissed me off that the judges were a panel of bharatnatyam judges and had little experience with raas. The placement of teams was fine (mostly because raas has significantly little emphasis on traditionality and more on coordination/formations/modern elements), but it's definitely risky.Bhangraholic said:

Well just to inform you, we are getting judges that are highly qualified in the field of Bhangra. These judges have experience with teaching traditional bhangra and or competed in India or North America. Our judge panel will be highly qualified.Bhangraholic said:

i just dont want a comp like idols, where they pushed the whole traditional bhangra thing with live and proper vardiyan and stuff, but had pretty modern judges. or like bash where they had traditional judges but the teams were kinda modern and stuff. or boston bhangra, where a team like AVA (who went all live), only got like 8/20 or something when it came to traditional aspect).
any bhangra comp, is a great thing. Especially in a place like texas with a huge indian pop and a decent bhangra scene. i just want to get things clear regarding if the comp is traditional, modern, or in b/w. thats all. doesnt matter either way, just wondering.

"BHANGRAHOLIC" I can understand your frustration and concern regarding this competition. We will have judges with an equal understanding of modern and traditional knowledge. We don't even have an official team line-up so you cannot assume there will be 5 TEXAS teams at this show! We are getting a very high response from teams all over North America and do anticipate a mixed group of teams. I hope this helps!Bhangraholic said:
