the dark knight rises

i apologize if there is already a topic for this.
i am so excited for this movie i cannot even begin to explain. when the dark knight came out in 2008, i saw the midnight show and then went again later that night to see it again. christopher nolan is a genius and he'll be sure to give the movie an overall dark feel like the comic books without directly taking from them so as to still surprise even the most fantatic fans. i personally don't think batman will die though some people do feel that way. i feel writers usually want to kill off a character like this because they try to be realistic and say, how long can someone do the crazy shit they do. but blockbusters that make money like this movie, people always want to keep the option for a sequel, even if the director and none of the actors will be on board. ex: jason bourne, jack bauer, i have no more examples
i also think alot of elements of the first movie will come to play in this one. the dark knight was so much action with alot of symbolism thrown in. i think this movie will be more of a balance of action and symbolism. the joker played by heath ledger is one of the greatest characters on screen ever and he definately stole the movie. i think with bane, catwoman (damn she is sexy), and alot of other hidden villains, this movie will still be just as good if not better than the dark knight.

any thoughts?

I'm looking forward to it even though Bane being the main villain was kind of weird to me. Plus he looks nothing like how hes depicted in the comics. And since when does Bane have henchmen? I hope they fix batman's voice too that shit was horrible in the first movie.

i haven't read any spoilers or anything because i don't want to ruin this movie. but alot of people think that following the comics, bane will break batman's back. i don't know if it will happen exactly along those lines but i think bane will beat batman in some drastic way. i also don't think batman will die, like most expect, but rather someone close to him will. and who are the only two people who know who batman is (in gotham itself), lucius fox and his butler alfred. any thoughts?

i don't know if anyone has seen the dark knight rises yet but I midnighted it last night and it was amazing. didn't flow as well as the 2nd movie and had it's flaws but it was incredible nonetheless. anyone watch it and have any thoughts?

You're depiction of Bane isn't from the comics, it's from recent memory (Clooney's Batman). Bane's much more than a brute he's a terrorist and Nolan brings that element to life in this movie quite well. Everyone should watch it, ends one of the best trilogies of all time in a very classy but epic way.

Question, the pit in which bane was imprisoned. Was that a nod to the lazarus pit?

there were rumors that a lazarus pit was suppose to be in the movie. but the lazurus pit is used by ras al ghul to heal at the point of severe injury or death.
but in this movie it was just christopher nolan's take on the prison that bane was imprisoned in.

the pit in which bane was imprisoned and in which batman undergoes his convalescence is indeed a nod to the lazarus pit. in the comics batman heals the back bane breaks only with the aid of the lazarus pit.

as far as comic canon goes, nolan drew directly from the proper source material but he played pretty freely with the way in which he arranged it. the complete isolation and imposition of martial law upon gotham does not take place in the bane story arc in the comics (which is called knightfall), it takes place in another arc, no man's land, which details gotham's quarantine from the rest of the US following an earthquake.

in the comics, wayne and talia al-ghul (that's her name) love each other and even have a son that later grows up to be a robin.

I'm assuming anyone reading this knows that there are spoilers here right? if not, SPOILER ALERT. Just checking, continue on

also, the bruce-talia relationship in TDKR threw me off, specifically because they are together in the comics. But god I loved hathaway, I was very skeptical of her has selina kyle, but wow she did an awesome job in the first half (Second half her character was not as developed, but she got sweet action scenes).

read this online somewhere and i since i agree i thought id share

in comparing tdkr to the bb and tdk

The reason I like TDKR better than TDK are 1.I didn't sense any danger for Batman in TDK. 2. I had no emotions when Racheal died I really didn't care. 3. Harvey Dents turn to evil was very unconvincing. TDKR was the total opposite in that respect. I was at the edge of my seat, fearful and emotional throughout the film.

the emotions feelings i had watching the last one were far greater than that of tdk. and tdk was all about joker for me, and this is the batman trilogy so i think the best batman movies were

1.tdkr
2.bb (cloooooose 2nd love the origin story and the darkness)
3.tdk

all the movies are great, just sayn.
