The New Trend in Vardiyaan

We have all seen the newer trends in vardiyaan in the past 2 years. A few common trends are the following:

1) Starched Tie-dyed Turlas > Fan One Colored Turlas
2) Shorter Vests
3) More emphasis on Phumans

However, when you see the exact same style popping up with teams, you begin to wonder whether a new trend is popping up or whether it's simply a fad.

Here are a few example of what I believe will become staple in a few years. Feel free to disagree and discuss.

I really like all of these a lot, but I think BABC's is my favorite since it's the brightest. TEB's is great too because the kurtas are just the right color - kind of a subtler version of the vest. Main thing is not necessarily the choice of color, but the brightness of the color so that the dancers "pop" and are literally eye-candy.

One "trend" I don't like is what perhaps Waris Punjab De (at AVAP, not PCS) and SIAC have - a grayish, duller kurta that sort of mirrors the color of the vest. Pics attached courtesy of MPE Live. (For Waris, for me the blue-green combos weren't poppin'/bright enough, red-yellows looked good though).

AEG and Rooh's vardiyaan at Masti were clean too. I like em.

I think enough teams have incorporated enough of the elements that Kinnell mentions that its definitely beyond being a fad, and well into being trends. Also, the sheer intricacies of the designs on the vardiyaan, especially the vests are something you see more and more. A welcome trend in my opinion ;D

Im a huge fan of clean and bright colored vardiyaan. Im not too big on the tie dye because it makes the vardi look messy and unclean, especially the tie dyed pughan. In my opinion, you should see the cleanliness of the pugh. I want to be able to see the laars, the natural creases in the thurla, the blooming of the phull. With a tie dyed pugh, you can't really see these aspects of it. I like bright and well coordinated kurtey, chadrey and vests. Its really cool to see the detailed embroidary on vests and the karai on the kurta. I really like SIAC and TEB's vardiyaan because they're so detailed. The dull colored kurtey actually bring out the already bright colored vests, chadrey and pughaan. They look really clean. Keep the PINK, YELLOW, LIME GREEN, RED, TURQOISE coming. love those colors on stage.

Out of that kind of style, I'm a bigger fan of Waris Punjab De's vardiyaan because I like the darker types of vardiyaan personally and I feel like the bright colors become too distracting and they jump out too much while you're dancing.

One thing to note is that the vests for all these mentioned teams (including SIAC) and my team have identical designs. I personally love the design, but do you think more teams will go for the exact same design in the years to come or will try to branch out into new designs?

oooohh that's sick Danny, I love the new uniforms. It kinda reminds me of the Maroon jodi color from Rooh Punjab Di. The Maroon/Black Chadre and Phuman are a nice touch too.

I love the kurtha design a lot. A nice touch to give those vardiyan your own sense of style. Thanks for sharing Danny.

Personally I love the simplicity and contrast of Heeray Punjab Deh (Pictures Courtesy of G&H Studios)

I don't know much about the particular parts and what they are called, or their meaning, but I much prefer the simplistic element of Heeray's attire. It's not flashy, but still very bright. A very clean presentation of color and embroidery.
