Top 10 Non-Live Bhangra Teams in North America

Hey everyone,


Now that Elite 8 is over, I would love some discussion on who we all think the NEW top 10 Bhangra Teams are right now. Not the BEST, but the top 10 ranked based on placings and overall performances. Here are mine:


1. SGPD
2. ABC
3. UNC
4. NJ/JW
5. NYPD
6. Cal Bhangra
7. TAG
8. AEG
9. FAUJ
10. JJ (Would have placed higher for me if they performed more)

Now that Elite 8 is over, I would love some discussion on who we all think the NEW top 10 Bhangra Teams are right now. Not the BEST, but the top 10 ranked based on placings and overall performances. Here are mine:

3. UNC

5. NYPD
6. Cal Bhangra
7. TAG
8. AEG
9. FAUJ
10. JJ (Would have placed higher for me if they performed more)

No BK or BCC?

BCC would be tied for 10 with JJ...i love their style, just think they need a couple more performances under their belt...

1. SGPD (barely hanging on in my opinion, haven't come out with a completely new set since Elite i feel)
2. AEG (great performances at bruin, boston and elite 8)
3. UNC (i'd rank them higher if they changed up their set more)
4. ABC (would love to see them compete again some time soon)
5. Bhangra Empire
6. NYPD
7. NJ (Have really been falling of since E8 2010, hopefully Jashan changes that)
8. TAG
9. JJ
10. SMD

How is PCBCA so high on your list^^^^ z Ibelieve they have only competed once this season they didnt place

No offense to your list though. These are all super solid teams. Just wanted your opinion on UNC. I love that you included BK though..Cali represent!

I really don't want to get in on this little tiff because I'm on UNC... but Shazaib and Harjit are two of my favorite dancers to ever hit the circuit so I feel obligated to try and dissolve the tension...

I'm not saying UNC should or should not be on anyone's list; I just wanted to point out that Harjit did also say

at the bottom of his post. I'm guessing shazaib probably just didn't see it because it was at the bottom of Harjit's post and separated from the main body.. So regardless of what everyone thinks of UNC I am pretty sure Harjit wasn't trying to be condescending or rude in his reply to TX180 and hopefully TX180 didn't feel that way.

Anyway, hope that clears the air a little bit, so this thread can get back on topic!

So yeah no offense to any of the lists, I'm just curious why some people are putting teams that haven't been as active or placed recently over the top college teams like UNC and Cal in their lists. Especially UNC since they placed above several of those teams at Elite.
Is it because they're prioritizing general reputation over recent placings? I'm not advocating for anyone but I'm relatively new to the circuit and wanted to know what people think characterizes/defines a top 10 team.

i think some people dont base the teams that they think are best just off of placings. unc being in the top 10 teams in america is an obvious choice based on placings (and i would easily put them in my top 10 list as well), but other people may feel like other teams dance better, other teams have better sets, have a style they prefer, etc.

personally for me the best teams are the ones who stick to the roots when it comes to move execution and stuff, but alot of those teams dont bring the gimmicky elements that place these days and thus they may not place at comps as often as others. so for me, the teams that place aren't always better, but fit whatever the judges want more etc

again this is personal opinion
