Hey all,
I'm Amit from Rochester. Happy to be a part of the site.
So I am vaguely aware of the different types of dancing and particular moves that should be included in a bhangra routine. I know that most good routines have a mirza section, a jhumar section, giddha if co-ed, etc. And I also know that most routines have moves like jukta, andagaman, and jugni (thanks Waleed).
I think it would be really beneficial if those with knowledge of these aspects could jointly compile a list of the different types of dances and moves and include a description of them as well as their cultural significance, if known.
It's definitely important to preserve the culture behind bhangra but I think a big reason why this may not happen sometimes is purely lack of good information.
Thanks.
ps. I saw another thread talking about making a video on all the different aspects of bhangra and I think this could be a valuable thing to include in it.
