Transparent Saaps

Made two of these saaps a lil while ago. Took them to fever this past weekend and got some good feedback/response so i thought i would finally post em here. I'm not really looking to sell these but if someone out there reallllly wants to buy em they're $100/each. I'm currently all out of saaps and raw material so won't be making anymore sets until i'm done with some other projects i've been waiting to work on for a looong time. also wanna give a thank you to everyone who enjoys the random stuff i come up with, appreciate all the support.

LED saaps! The next big thing, haha. It would be interesting to see these with some tiny leds on them.


Lovin' your work Hardeep. They both look really well made. Are the screw/joints on that plexiglass material the same as the joints that you use for your plastic saaps?


Is the sound when you play these similar to your other saaps as well? Btw, if it isn't obvious.. you officially market the most expensive saaps in history, lol.

the material is impact resistant polycarbonate, tradename makrolon. my understanding of light refraction is kinda rusty but based on this

and the images below i'd say you could make it "glow" depending on the angle of the light source. at an incidence angle of 0, the light will pass through. if you really want to make it shine bright you could do it easily by gluing reflective mylar to the back side of the saap and put the leds at the right angle to allow for the light to diffuse through the polycarbonate and also reflect off the mylar and diffuse more light through the polycarbonate. i'm thinking with mylar backing and 3 led's shining against the saap from each side, ideally mounted on the handles, at an angle of 5 - 15 degrees from the flat plane of the saap surface, it would light up the saap like crazy.

plexiglass shatters, went with polycarb. the screws, nuts, and washers are same as the hdpe saaps. polycarbonate is denser than hdpe so it's heavier than the hdpe saaps and also has a higher frequency sound, its similar to the hdpe sound just a bit sharper because of density and hardness. the price is what theyre worth bro, material was expensive, lots of labor went into it, not to mention the hazard of cutting polycarbonate using a table saw in your basement, cutting the stuff creates small particles, had to wear a respirator mask.

Makrolon reminded me of an article I was looking at way back when we were looking into this stuff:

I suspected that the light might appear to be moving as the saaps move which could cause a really cool effect highlighting the motion. What I really want though it to light up the edges, almost like a fiberoptic cable where the light isnt seen till the edge of the material. That's look badass, and significally better imo than led strips on the saaps

At this point man, I'm highly considering just not wearing a chadaar at all because people love seeing my knee braces!
