Two Pakistani Sikhs have been beheaded, weeks after being kidnapped in separate incidents in the country's tribal north-west, officials say.

alot of sikhs had good relations with the taliban before. but i am sure things have deteriorated in the last 9 years or so.

Amrik Singh, a cosmetics merchant, says he welcomed the Taliban's arrival, since it signaled the end of lawlessness that came with civil war. "We are thankful for the Taliban presence," he says. "Our lives are secure, our property is secure, our religious affairs are secure. For that we appreciate the Taliban."

Asked who would buy cosmetics in a country where all women, even Sikh women, must wear head-to-toe veils, Mr. Singh smiles. "The women buy it. Their husbands only see it."

But this smooth coexistence requires constant lubrication with the Taliban, these merchants admit. "We know we are not really Muslim, our systems are different, so ... they show us the legal steps within an Islamic society," says Gurmouk Singh, the leader of the Jalalabad Sikh community. "We feel safe here."

Yeah man even in Afghanistan there have been instances of the Taliban being good to the Sikhs and waiving their taxes, this is kinda surprising

just heard abt this too. this is f*cked

also, just because there have been a few instances of a few sikhs that had good relations with the taliban isnt enough to generalize and say that sikhs and the taliban are best friends. lol.

and it doesnt change the fact that these guys are extremists and are just straight up f*cked in the head.

so the Taliban were being nice by not killing them but instead having them to conform to the Taliban's rules?

well the phrase taliban is not accurate in the first place most of the time. they have like so many factions that range from the pasthun nationalist kind to the hardcore islamist to the random dude who just wants a little bit of power and money and is gonna charge the dhimmis some jaizya. they lived in relative peace with the afghan sikhs until after the us invasion.

the article did not really say that the taliban is going and chopping off all the sikh peoples heads. just that two sikhs got their heads chopped off when their ransom wasnt met. they do the same thing to their fellow muslims. i hope the indian media does not sensationalize this like they usually do. it usually ends up in more useless violence.

the wave of what occurred in 1947 had initially started in Pakistan in accordance to what i have heard. eventually the Muslim hate towards Sikhs later spread to other parts of Pakistan and then later India where the peace between the two religions was disrupted by these clashes as the Sikhs began to protest and strike back at these occurrences led by the Muslims. seeing how that was a chain reaction, can this also lead up to further complication in the future?
