Hey everybody! Just a quick curious question, so what's the difference between gray goatskin and white goatskin? (For dagga side)

The darker skins are usually the original and less tampered skins. The one's that are whiter/white altogether with powder etc. have been bleached to sterilise and clean. Arguably some say doing this can ruin the skin/sound - I don't believe so.

Not sure about the male/female thing mentioned above, I think it just depends on the goat.

Oh okay, thanks singhshady, what kinda bleach is that? Bleached flour?

it's bleached to make it easier to remove the hair from the skins. this makes the skin lighter & sometimes the skin becomes powdery.

it makes a difference to the sound because the bleach makes the skin thinner & it's easier to break. thicker/heavier skin is also louder & has a deeper bass sound--it's also harder to play

Thanks taminder, I felt both unbleached and bleached goatskins and I felt like noticed the difference which is comparison, lol
