It's always been that way at Muqabla. The judges are fair and the local teams aren't given any special treatment by the organizers of the event. Although we are friends, we still need ID to check in and register, audition videos, packet registration and fees handed in on time, etc.Swi said:Definitely pay attention to form, and I don't mean that as "omg you're not doing it right", but from an aesthetic sense I think you guys would benefit from slowing you're set down so execution could be more clean and synchronized.
Dancers tended to cut moves short to transition to the next step, so arms are never long/wide they always are in this box close to the body because there's often no time to transition if they go out wide.
Also, unrelated to the performance and not a criticism of the placings or anything....I still find it odd that UB can compete at a UB event (it's not just bhangra, even the fusion team dances right). I haven't seen that since GW+Blowout and that doesn't happen anymore because it became a consensus that it's just unfair for everyone involved.

We honestly were trying to hit on many key problems we had in the past, like being in sync, execution of the moves, and just general hype/excitement. I think we definitely touched bases on those things. I'm not saying we have perfected it, but we have definitely improved a whole lot.
As far as competitions are concerned, Muqabla is run by the Indian SA of UB. As a team, we are affiliated with UB, but not the ISA. We competed as a separate group, and had to go through the same processes as any other team would have registering and preparing for the competition.
The crowd definitely has a huge impact on the performance on stage, but its up to the team to elicit a crowd response. If the team on stage is lame, then the crowd won't go crazy; being completely honest, it was dead silent for most of our dance last year and its because the dance was nothing to get hyped over.fthomas1 said:HdBrar said:All in all, our team is still fairly young. I saw you guys perform at Muqabla last year as well as this year and you guys have improved considerably! I agree, you guys are definitely taking steps in the right direction.
ISA and the judges may have been impartial but in my opinion the home crowd has a huge impact on performance on stage.
Regardless, great performance compared to last year. I think the 3rd place was well deserved. Congratulations guys!
