I remember a person came from punjab to do a research on Shaheed Udham singh ji when he lived in San Francisco. It claimed that Udham Singh ji has 2 children with a white lady and they are alive. He basically came to find them... does anyone know anything about it, did he find them or not?

Today (July 31st) actually marks the 68th Anniversary of his death. It is shameful he is not as highly regarded by the rest of India as he is by Punjab, because he was so influential in defending the honor of India, and in fighting for justice.

Here are Udham Singh's inspiring last words:

'I do not care about sentence of death. It means nothing at all. I do not care about dying or anything. I do not worry about it at all. I am dying for a purpose.' Thumping the rail of the dock, he exclaimed, 'We are suffering from the British Empire.' Udham Singh continued more quietly. 'I am not afraid to die. I am proud to die, to have to free my native land and I hope that when I am gone, I hope that in my place will come thousands of my countrymen to drive you dirty dogs out; to free my country.'

'I am standing before an English jury. I am in an English court. You people go to India and when you come back you are given a prize and put in the House of Commons. We come to England and we are sentenced to death.'

'I never meant anything; but I will take it. I do not care anything about it, but when you dirty dogs come to India there comes a time when you will be cleaned out of India. All your British Imperialism will be smashed.'

'Machine guns on the streets of India mow down thousands of poor women and children wherever your so-called flag of democracy and Christianity flies.'

'Your conduct, your conduct - I am talking about the British government. I have nothing against the English people at all. I have more English friends living in England than I have in India. I have great sympathy with the workers of England. I am against the Imperialist Government.'

'Your people are suffering - workers. Everyone are suffering through these dirty dogs; these mad beasts. India is only slavery. Killing, mutilating and destroying - British Imperialism. People do not read about it in the papers. We know what is going on in India.'

Awesome post Harman. I remember reading his last speech, and the person making fun of his english and all of that. Udham Singh is a TRUE hero, a uniter. Its sad the rest of India doesnt realize his contribution, but not surprised. But he is Punjab's hero, he is OUR hero.

Udham Singh is the DEFINITION of inspiration. I mean think of this. Jaillianbagh, Dwyer comes there and killed thousands of innocent students. All punjabi. Udham Singh went to Harimandir Sahib, and took vaadah there that he would stand up for his COUNTRY. People from North to South, that didnt even fell the drop of the blood of the people in Amritsrar. That makes my hair raise up on my arms, its insane, the revolutionary that this man was. I love Bhagat Singh, but Udham Singh personified what it means to be an Indian, a punjabi, a sikh.

Favourtie Jazzy B song ever.

"Je Udham Singh khoon da badla lehnda na, sanu kon Punjabi kehndav"-- Ranjit
"jithey dhooleya khoon shaheedan da, onu kandhey ne Punjab Loko." ---Miestro

vaah ve vaah je, kamaaaaaaaalllllll gaal ahh.. bilqool jee... See I hate the Indian government and some of the people in parts of India, but this is why I fly my flag high... For the Udhams Singhs, and the Bhagat Singh's... This is what I think of when I salute my flag.

Well said Summy. Udham Singh was very aptly born "Sher Singh", and certainly lived up to that name with his bravery and sense of justice.

Here is the best Shaheed Udham Singh tribute I have heard.

You can fast forward to around 6:11 for Manmohan Waris' tribute, but what he sings before is also great, and very important for our community to hear.

My great great uncle wrote a book about Udham Singh called 'Bhartia Da Gaurav Sardar Udham Singh,' - J. N. Sandhey. He had access to his original writing and letters he penned to people. I had a chance in 05 to see these letters and writing and it was pretty mindblowing, the anger and emotion in his writing and his single mindedness to avenge the killings. Made me proud to be associated even just a little bit ;)
