Special thanks to Simran, Ravi, Kuntal, and Anish for helping us tie paagan; it was super last minute, but it came together at the end so thank you so much. Our performance would not have been possible without you all.

Thank you so much to our wonderful liaison Anoop. She was amazing and really helped our team out! She was very down to earth and helpful. We couldn't have asked for a better liaison!

Also, a huge thank you to the judges for giving us some great critiques and insight! It really means a lot and we will definitely be implementing some things that you all recommended for us!

Lastly, since this is our last competition of the year I would like to give a special shoutout to all of our seniors for all of the hard work they have put into this team over the past few years! Oh maaan cant believe how good these youngins have gotten over this past year! I know all of you guys worked super hard this year to get things back on track and it definitely shows, so proud of how far things have come and I can't wait to see you guys kill it next year. Nidhi/Savan/Yeshel you guys were great captains and Pooja/Rani ya'll are gonna fill their shoes so well (Yeshel I guess you'll fill your own shoes well too ;D ). I wish I could have seen this performance live, I really like the flow and energy of it. I love that NKD allowed experienced organizations to bring out new dancers and give them the opportunity to compete on such a stage.
Kuntal / Yeshol - I do want to apologize on behalf of CMU for not being able to help you tie paghan. It came to the point where we were tying our last pagh 5 minutes before going backstage. I'm very glad to see that they all worked out though.

Yeshol you're a solid dancer, and I'm looking forward to seeing your future sets. Akhil - always a pleasure seeing you as well.

Either way, hell of a weekend hanging with and competing against you guys. Until next time, UNC.

I was so surprised and impressed by how sick these younger dancers are, especially the girls! Y'all definitely have a bright future ahead of you and I can't wait to see what yeshel, rani and Pooja have in store for next year. As always, I had a blast hanging out with all of you this weekend, and being able to see y'all perform live again was a real treat. Great job guys!

Being on UNC Bhangra puts such a high expectation to match previous sets of execution, cleanliness, etc that this team and future UNC teams will definitely have their work cut out for them. However, all things considered, UNC's captains and team had definitely risen to the challenge with this performance.

For having 6-7 first time performers and with only a week to prepare after blowout, the cleanliness and execution definitely is something to be impressed with. There are issues that these dancers would not have developed such as everyone’s arms being straight (if that’s the way it’s set), smiling consistently, bouncing your shoulders consistently, bringing your knees to your waist, getting low on jugni, etc are things that with more practice and more performances will be engraved in their heads and eventually muscle memory.

A quick rundown of the set;
  • Saap segment is very clean, formations hit and it was longer than most, but not boring whatsoever, extensions aren’t bad either, just a little bigger and the team should be in a good spot.
  • Khunde segment had its issues with elbows out, chest out, and back straight, and a steady shoulder bounce should be apparent amongst all dancers
  • Jhoomer was well executed, rani and yeshel merkkked it (Nirali was fun to watch with the chimpta as well haha :p )
  • Blue girl in the front wrecks Dhamaal
  • Jugni by pink dancers needs to be lower with a constant shoulder bounce from the whole team
  • Ending was hype, but stamina is clearly an issue for many dancers.
All the pieces are there and with the leadership of the new captains in Yeshel & Rani, this team can be contenders yet again.

I wish you two the best of luck with your team and hit me up if you need anything else.

P.S. Cutest Dancer in the World Award goes to Rishabh Jain. 8)
