that goal didn't count because that's just how the game is man..sometimes the ref gets it and sometimes he doesn't... there's no instant replay in the game of futbol because thats just the tradition of the game.. its all called based on the human eye.... and it wasn't a royal ass whooping by brazil... are u kidding me? the first half was where we showed that it wasn't... even if we didn't score two goals we still dominated. we had fresh legs and we defended hard and played with confidence. as you get tired you have lack of concentration and less hustle plays... that's the only way brazil won. we let them. lol stick to hockey vik.

Take off the red and white shades and then analyze this game... It's a matter of time before instant replay shows up, screw the tradition of the game, we want the final score to be right... It was "tradition" in football, baseball, and basketball to not have instant replay, look where we are now... Fifa will jump on board soon... If it wasn't for Howard playing out of his mind, it would have been 4-2 Brazil in the first half... The U.S. had zero offensive pressure the whole damn game, what were you watching? The first goal was a beautiful cross and a nice tip and the second goal was a breakaway... Both goals were on the run... We had zero sustained pressure... Look at the ball control stats, Brazil 59% and the U.S. at 41%... That is fuckin domination son... Brazil had 24 shots, 11 of those were on target compared to our 4 on target... And most of those 11 were quality shots... Out of our 4 on target, 2 went in and we only had two other shots the rest of the game... Howard saved the United States from embarrassment, you can pump yourself up and think that the U.S. had this in the bag, but everyone who knows something about soccer knew that Brazil would come back... It was a shooting parade on Howard all day including the first HALF... Brazil realized that they were Brazil in the second half and straight spanked the U.S. Stop listening to Alexi Lalas and the rest of the ESPN cronies saying that this was a good thing for team, this team has disappointed for a long time... This is nothing new... Stick to bhangra...

the italian national team just like italian teams in serie a almost never hav sustained pressure. they play a purely defensive game and attack strong on counterattacks. italy has been usin that style for a long time and no one can even think of doubtin them as a good team. brazil is a team that only plays all out attack because they need to keep an attack goin or theyll fuck up cuz their defense is never too good. instead of reading stats learn to watch the game and understand different styles of play and seeing how teams fair. the us used the same defensive approach that italy traditionally uses and beat spain and did well initially against brazil. and if u did watch teh first half us held their own and brazil couldn't do nethin. even luis fabiano was gettin frustrated and brazilian players were foulin ppl back and fourth. that style of play is used against teams that hav more a freeflowing form like brazil. i mean if u watch germany or england play ull se the complete opposite cuz they have a very structured formation and keep to it. also brazil is the type of team where the players are more selfish and instead of lookin for the better pass to a more open player theyll take the shot on their own. that too boosts the shot count....i agree brazil is a better team and deserved to win but the us did clearly show improvement. their passing and confidence was great first half. they just lost composure in the second half when they shuld have had a much tighter defense to stop brazils attack

also about refs watchin instant replays and all. Fifa has considered video replay many times but choose to leave it out because simple human error adds to drama in futbol. just as players aren't perfect and refs aren't perfect and fifa wants the game to be as independant from technology as possible to keep the game at a level where human judgements during the game are absolute. thats why if ppl get carded in a game and teams try to refute the card (usually during the actual seasons) every futbol organization usually stands by the decision of the ref. if u watched the champions league semifinals with chelsea vs barcelona anelka straightup tripped on him self and then abidal was givin a red card. yes the players complained but the game went on and get through with 10 players. thats the beauty of futbol and why sooo many people around the world love it. cuz so much relies on human decisions and attitude from how a player does to how a referee decides calls. there aren't play by play plans and video footage to stop the play of the game. the players play straight through to the end. i doubt theyll change it

Gotta agree with Vick here..Brazil dominated us...our counterattack was on point in the first half, but shots wise, ball posession, etc...Brazil was Brazil....it was just a matter of time before we broke down. Stats don't lie. It was a valiant effort on our part....but not enough.

haha vick, I gotta agree with my guys on this, the game was close until USA lost the will to defend as well as they had been in the first half! I'm SO disappointed!! Sheel def knows what he's talking about [lake braddock] haha :D Naveen amen on the analysis you said exactly what I would have about Italian style of play and the similarity found in USA soccer

Naveen, I brought out the stats to prove my point... The United States is not Italy, we don't have a defined style of play... And if you think we can consistently win with the style we used against Brazil which was basically, whether a 90 minute onslaught and hope to get lucky counter attacking, then you sir no nothing about soccer... You can not let a team like Brazil rape you the whole game and hope the get lucky... What the U.S. did was go into prevent defense, "we have our two goals, now lets just hang on"... With that mentality, you deserve to lose... Everyone keeps saying the U.S. got tired, no shit, Brazil was all over the place and when the ball is on your side of the field for 80 mins, you're going to get tired... The two U.S. goals were more so brain farts by the Brazilians then they were "skill" goals by our guys... I see what you are saying, play strong defense have a strong counter attack... Did work today did it? Has it ever worked for the United States? If it dont work, fix that shit... I don't care if works for Italy or whoever, that shit doesnt work for us... You can't play like pussies against powerhouses like the U.S. did today...

If this was a world cup game and the U.S. loses 2-1 to Brazil BUT the game should have been tied 2-2 but the referee was picking a wedgie, would your opinion on instant replay change? I thought so... When we can get rid of human error, why not do it? I can almost guarentee if Brazil lose this game today 2-1, instant replay is initiated after the world cup next year...

"We gave up the first goal so early in second half," Bradley said. "We really put ourselves in a tough spot."

This is why these fudus lost... You're still up 2-1 you moron... Play like it...

First of all vick, i've played soccer 17 years of my life so ... for all of those who truly do understand the game and don't go by pure stats to prove their arguments... they would understand that sometimes in games where scoring is not so direct (unlike basketball, hockey, football), a long term strategy is placed into a game. You bring up stats to prove your point, but did u actually watch the game? Where was Brazil's dominance in the first half? Ya they had the better percentage of the ball, but if Brazil plays any team, they're going to have that no matter what. What I did see, were frustrated Brazilians fouling us, playing horrible balls, tripping up on their own dribbling, and just not getting to play the way they usually play because the us team condensed their whole team onto their side of the field. that's called strategy...because no matter how good you are, you can't dribble past a whole team..not even c.ronaldo and messi can do it... and naveen brought a good point.. the counterattack isn't the only style that USA can play with. They can push up all players and play attacking futbol too.. but there's no point in doing that if you're gonna score two goals and give up five (evident in the first game). Condensing the team brings back your forwards past the center line who usually just jog around barely playing defense. Doing this, our attack gets tired and especially with a team like Brazil. Not only that, chasing around Brazilians while they try to dribble around you gets you tired too... and the people who did that the most were our center midfielders... not only do they defend the trickest/most skilled players on the pitch... but they also are the people who lead the attack. So Ricardo Clark and Feilhaber got tired. The whole team got tired. That's our fault... conditioning was not good enough. After half, we were too tired, our condensed defense didn't work because there was no energy. Both Clark and Feilhaber get subbed by Bornstein and Sasha Celjstan. They both suck. No depth on the bench, therefore our center midfield broke down... the place where the brazilians exploited. We broke down, they scored. So... they didn't dominate in any sense. If you look at pure stats.. Brazil always has more possession, more shots, more corner kicks, more anything cuz they can dribble. That doesn't mean that they dominate teams like the US, Italy, England, Germany, Russia, France, etc. always. Sorry for the long post... but it's my review of the game... stick to vtech football vik hah.

jus so u kno vick my fav team is argentina. i could care less about american soccer. in fact for this tournament i was rootin for spain. i was talkin about different styles of play and strategy in futbol. and another thing with a 2-0 lead in a final game most teams would try and sit back and defend...not just the US most teams. barca did that in the champions league final against man u and it worked while at the same time a couple years ago ac milan did the same with a 3-0 lead over liverpool but ended up losin to liverpool. sometimes sittin back works and sometimes it doesnt. yet if ur a weaker team and u hav a 2-0 lead in futbol it makes sense to sit back and defend with all u got. thas jus a good strategy so u kno. don act like u kno so much about futbol by just readin stats. ev knows brazil is a better team than the us no one said they werent. the us jus put up a good fight and had a good chance of winnin and blew it. they weren't demolished....watch some more games and learn how teams play and how a coach attempts diff strategies before actin like u kno so much about a sport by just readin stats.
