Hello 'DSguy'...this is Mandeep Kaur Patrola-Rai. Allow me to begin by writing that I do not blame you for sharing your anger and I understand you are coming from a place of pain, a pain that many Sikhs worldwide share and I empathize with that emotion wholeheartedly. We need to work with each other in solidarity...divided we fall but united we shall always stand.

VIBC and the organizers of the 1984 Sikh Genocide Memorial respect each other's vision and community work, and due to a lapse in communication during the summer of 2014, were unable to resolve the date issue before the 2015 festival. Please read our public statements and apology for further details and clarification if you so choose. I believe the links were posted earlier on this thread.

The Board of Directors of VIBC denounce violence in all forms as it has no place in peaceful society. Futher, we strongly believe there is a social responsibility to be sensitive to injustices that affect our community. VIBC stands in solidarity with the organizers of the 1984 Sikh Genocide Memorial, who are bringing necessary attention to the innocent victims and violence against Sikhs. We will continue to work together as community.

VIBC is a volunteer run, not-for-profit secular arts organization with the mission to bring together all communities as ONE community using the arts, specifically Bhangra and music as a vehicle to do so.

VIBC is committed to creating inclusive community thru peaceful dialogue and informative discussion. VIBC is dedicated to the communities we love serve and respect. May we stand together as community, as one, as humanity with love and understanding for justice and equality for all.

To my bhangra family here on BTF, some of whom date back to the POL days, thank you for your support and your voice-:)

May we move forward with positive discussion and respect for one another.

Rab Rakha,
Mandeep K Patrola-Rai
