Totally agree! If you really think about it, this was an inexperienced vcu team that still performed pretty well. Since most of the team is made up of rookies, they have 4 years to blend into the vcu style and dominate the circuit. I wouldn't call this a setback for vcu, just a little time to adjust for everyone!

jordan, sick job at your first performance with vcu. you only gonna get sicker and sicker, keep it up changing styles isn't easy (especially when laveshs tiny ass is responsible for yours ), but your doing a great job of it

Whether or not this is their "b" team, they should have at least shown up to compete. There were two elite 8 teams at this competition, and VCU was the ex-champion. When NJ is in the lineup, you go hard, that's my opinion.

their elite dancers have been dancing for what, 2 or 3 years? the new dancers for, about 2 months? if that?
does it even make sense to compare them? they did a great job for people who have just started bhangra (except jordan who i know has been dancing traditional bhangra for a while now). and if you think about it, the older dancers (shahrukh, marshal, etc..) not only had to prep this team, but also have to practice for burgh. that means they literally run 2 teams at one time. kind of unfair to expect the exact same output as someone who is experienced and been dancing for a long time and a newer dancer. again though, not to say that the new dancers didnt do a good job or the coaches didnt do a good job teaching, cause i personally thought the set was executed very well, especially the nc folks jordan and nikhita!

Taller yellow johri was nasty. Like everyone said, style/individual talent is probably one of the main things to work on.

I would wait until November 7th to make any judgments about VCU because most of the dancers were new. I'm sure that everyone on the circuit, doesn't matter who, took some time adjusting to a team's style. No one is born dancing exactly like any specific team. Mad props for basically running two teams at the same time as a COLLEGIATE organization. Can't wait to see the Burgh set!

Not really, the circuit does not always have to dictate what a team does. Everybody has their reasons for applying to certain competitions, bringing certain people, and doing certain things in the realm of bhangra.. it's pretty obvious that they had their own reasons for doing what they did.

I don't want to speculate or comment too heavily on this video/team because I'm sure they had their reasons..but just something to think about for a few ppl criticizing:

maybe they wanted this competition to get their "rookies" some expereince and see where they stand on stage? i.e. they did this last year as well at a smaller competition in n.c.-akd???

Nonetheless - it was an enjoyable set to watch although re-used and i see the "new" generation of dancers at vcu getting stronger and stronger every year - so much talent in the area - lucky you guys lol send some to your neighboring state to the south haha

As a non-Punjabi/not-even-Desi dancer, it's always nice to see other non-Punjabis/non-Desis on the circuit and to see such diversity, especially on such a team like VCU (whether A or B). It really is a challenge for us because we don't have an understanding of the language, or the culture. There's still things that we lack, that we only learn over time (trust me). Jordan, I think that's your name, I offer up words of encouragement. I wanna see you in a few months, where you'll have a good support system and will be able to adopt fully (hopefully). Shahrukh's already been through the cycle, so don't focus or put yourself down. Relax, learn as much as you can, and enjoy the ride!!

Nor should "elite teams" vs non "elite teams" make a difference. You should come with your intent EVERY competition. If here it was to gain experience for dancers, they did just that. If it was to win, they would have done differently. Just wait till burgh. I think its a stupid sentiment to care about who is in the lineup and all of a sudden change your attitude. NJ, AEG, or Team Random. you develop your own goals and set out to achieve them.

VCU youngsters (i prefer this to B-team. As quoted by members OF VCU, there is no "b"-team, there is just VCU), well done. Read the CONSTRUCTIVE criticism and move forward. I'm sure within the next year half of BTF will know all your names, if history is any indication.

completely agree with that as well lol. no one prepares for a competition in the desire to lose. whether its A team, B team, youngster team, or a team of daadhis dancing, you go to try and accomplish your goal, whether its win, get experience or have fun.
