Vice-Presidential Debate

Thoughts on it? Obviously Biden dominated the knowledge of US History, the Economy, Foreign Policy, and everything else. Palin did a better-than-expected job of reading off cue cards. Even if they were unrelated "I know your question is about healthcare, but let me tell you how the Maverick is gonna cut taxes for y'all"...

Biden won. Palin didn't ever veer off talking points or give good specifics about anything. Biden consistently backed up his statements with voting record and number of votes.

also, for laughs (this is so true):

I moved my post...

I agree Biden won, when it comes to the actual substance to the debate.

Sarah Palin's contentions (if we can even refer to them as such) in last night's debate were just silly. Cliche. Empty. Useless. Very "Proud to Be American" type comments.

Hey all you hockey moms, soccer moms, average joe sixpacks, we're the mavericks who are going to get those greedy wall street folks to stop losing our hard earned money! And lower our taxes so we can retain our hard earned money here in Alaska! Blah blah blah.

This article in the Times pretty much sums up the ridiculousness of her comments (or lack thereof since she refused to answer so many questions), http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/03/opinion/03fri1.html?em

I think it's obvious that she has a lack of experience, specifically foreign policy experience, so I won't dwell on that, but my concern is that the average American (not the well educated and informed) judges by appearance, charisma, body language, and demeanor, etc. If you ignore the substantial arguments and comments that were said, she won. She won those Americans who have no concept of understanding the substantive components of an argument, let's say the "average joe sixpack" from La Grange, Texas. There are just too many of those people, who actually vote, and will ignore the fact that she's well, an idiot.

I don't really have any thoughts on McCain individually at the moment, but if he were to die...Sarah Palin being Commander in Chief really scares me.

Biden came out better to the logical group, but he had the advantage going in as well. He could have never said anything before hand, and people were already going to be skeptical of Palin.

Ill move my post too: Regarding Plain, I think everyone has grown tired of her stupid, generic comments. Just like I have grown tired of the time it takes for obama to finish a sentence. I think it was funny that Pooja said that the average american was not well educated or informed.

Is that true? IF so, Palin is running the best campaign out of the 4. If so, then heck, I would throw around as many generic comments as I could, so as pooja put it, the uneducated and not informed, would appreciate my apperence and my cander. If thats the case then pooja, I think you have to agree, shes a lot smarter than what we give her credit for.

Not only does she have charisma, the apperance, and the demanor that everyone can appreciate, she is able to tap into that base that uses that as a gage to their vote. If thats the case, she is running one hell of a campaign.
---

Palin is a woman who I think the republican party thought she could tap into the same base that BUSH tapped into when he won the election twice. Bush didnt make much sense and never had any concrete stands when he was running, and make then after running the country into debt, 2 wars, and homeland problems, he was able to show either the brilliance of his campaign, or the collective stupidness of america when he overwhelming won again.

If people think that what palin is doing has no effect and is idiotic, just go back a couple years and see what bush did.

The best thing Palin has working for her is her looks... If she was an ugly ass, 65 year old woman spitting that same language, no one would pay attention to her... I was watching the post-debate analysis on MSNBC or something, and someone nailed it on the dot... You take away Palin's hotness factor, no one in America would have watched the debate last night...

Isn't it funny how no one cares about Politics for 3 years and when the election comes around, it brings out the worst of people? Ex: I was watching the debate on my lunch break and there was this women getting all defensive and arguing with an older couple who seemed frightened of her lol

According to national polls after the debate, Palin seemed more likable than Biden, but Biden seemed more qualified for the job. In addition, Palin exceeded expectations.

I wish she messed up more, we would have more Tina Fey sketches!

When expectations are very low, its pretty easy to exceed them.... Everyone thought Palin would be a train wreck after what happened in the Couric interview, the fact that Palin didnt stumble was enough for republicans to declare her a success.
